Lore Questions...

...I'm too lazy to research...

1) How many TIE's in a squadron?

2) I'm assuming Imp Squadrons don't mix-and match? i.e. all of one variant.

3) Do Corvettes ever carry fighters in a canon source, or just in fan-made stuff?

4) I'm assuming Corvette's are ubiquitous to all three factions, i.e it's the equivalent of buying a 747, anyone with the money can.

the PT version of the Tantive has capacity to carry a fighter but ill be damned if it makes sense

1) 12

2) no as a rule you use the same fighter in a squadron.

3) the nebulon b carries fighters but not all corvettes are big enough to its dependant on size and role.

4) no the Empire has its suppliers and other factions don't have access to them, the rebels had imperial ships because their crew defected.

1) I think it depents on the models

12 Tie Fighters

6 Tie Bombers

3 Tie Phantoms/Defenders

But i must confess im not sure about this numbers

A squadron of fighters is always 12, you may not send them all out at once but a squadron is 12.

Do you count fighters as bombers?

imperial star destroyer could carry 72 fighters

36 to a wing

12 to a squadron

2 in a flight

during the ROTJ this was broken down as follows

12 bombers

12 interceptors

48 TIE's

Define "canon source." In "Wraith Squadron," some CR-90s had been converted to pocket carriers, carrying about 8-12 Tie Fighters. You also have escort carriers like the converted Quasar-Fire, which basically are boxes to hold lots and lots of fighters.

What about the model itself? Does it look like it has a fighter bay door on the bottom like it does in RotS?

Actually, a Star Wars flight is four snubfighters, two is just a pilot and wingman.

1/2. Imperial squadrons, and Rebels generally, stick to having one type of fighter (A-wing, Interceptor, TIE bomber, etc...) for their 12 ships, though in circumstances where supply and replenishment is unavailable mixed squadrons will form.

3. The CR-90 Corellian Corvette can carry four TIE fighters in its forward hold/hanger, but that's only if the frigate is custom made that way from the beginning. The Wraiths refit theirs to fit nine X-Wings in the forward hold and four TIE fighters stuck on the outside hull in place of escape pods. (X-Wing Wraith Squadron book)

4. CR-90s were a fairly common ship, as several private merc groups/pirates were able to get their hands on them.

I was referring to WEG Star Wars rpg as my source, tried to do it from memory.

but I think ikka is right, there were 4 branches on the tree

72-36-12-4-2

rebels Mon calamari cruisers could hold 36, same break down

the boxy escort carrier, though much smaller than a stardestroyer had the same fighter capacity, it was a flying hangar bay really.

1: Varies, 7-12.
2: Pretty sure they don't.

3: Yes, in "Revenge of The Sith", The Sundered Heart (Honestly the Tantive IV) had space for one Belbullab-22 Starfighter. This is easily explainable as a shuttle bay.
4: Absolutely.

I just really like the idea of the Corvette having a little fighter escort it can poop out at a moments notice in times of need, USAF goblin style:

I'm in the process of writing an Edge of the Empire RPG campaign that uses x-wing rules for space combat, where the players are going to capture a Corvette, and I'm considering having a fighter inside as a bonus reward for completing the mission.

If you want them to get a great reward, the Corvette's four escape pods can be scrapped and any TIE variant can use the pod lock as a dock. Four Interceptors could be a nasty force multiplier....

That sounds suspiciously like carrier warfare to me.

You got that right except for the 36 part. There were simply 6 squadrons (of 12) to a wing. You got the flight (4) and element (2) correct though. (I'm also getting this from the WEG Sourcebook.)

.4) I'm assuming Corvette's are ubiquitous to all three factions, i.e it's the equivalent of buying a 747, anyone with the money can.

In my understanding from the 'Legends' side, there were multiple companies, many of which were in the empire's good graces (e.g. Kuat Drive Yards, Sienar Fleet Systems), which mass-produced star destroyers and TIE Fighters (respectively). There were others that used to provide for the Empire, but have since fallen out of grace, such as Corellian Engineering Corporation, which produced the Corvette. However, the Imperial Navy still had a lot of those Corvettes on hand from back before the Empire started the move to favor Kuat.

However, Sienar would also build things that they thought the Empire would want (e.g. the Marauder), but when the Empire chose not to they had to sell it to local governments, such as the Corporate Sector Authority.

On the other hand, remember when Han is pitching his services to Obi-Wan:

I've outrun Imperial starships, not the local bulk-cruisers, mind you. I'm talking about the big Corellian ships now.

So, all of that stuff about Kuat Drive Yards is probably made up by WEG. According to Han, the 'Big Corellian Ships' might refer to the Star Destroyers. I don't know.

Does anyone else have some understanding of this that irons out the seeming inconsistency?

Your 4 here is incorrect. First off, we should define "Corvette" as it's more of a ship category than a specific ship. Now, the CR-90, which I assume is what we were talking about here, is used by the Empire on occasion. I was reading Wookiepedia, I believe the Keyan farlander article, and it mentioned the Talon.

And imperial CR-90. I'm positive there are others as well.
