Do you mean the original series by gennedy tarkovsky? (Yes, I just pulled an OS snerk.)
That's the one that's actually watchable, right?

Okay. i'm actually only a half snob. I saw the end of the season 6 (end of the whole series) and the lightsaber fights were convincing. nothing like the new Rebels starwars fights. They're going the whole opposite direction. back to waving the **** stick stupidly in front of their face like Vader vs Obi Wan on the death star.
But. the original series was REALLY REALLY GOOD. augh. it was told without words in many places! action was cool. good story pacing and things for only like 2 minutes of animation.
I really love The Clone Wars. I was very disappointed when Disney cancelled it without letting it end properly. Each season had a few really great story arcs in them. Yes it has it's share of not so good episodes, but whatever, I can be very forgiving when I know I'm watching a kids cartoon.
I'm really hoping I enjoy the new Rebels cartoon. Sometimes it looks like it could be good, other times not so much. We shall see. Either way, since it's Star Wars I know I'll get some kind of enjoyment out of it.
As far as picking a ship I'd like to play, it would have to be Yoda's little fighter from the final story arc. Only problem with that though, it would be to small at the xwing scale. :-p
Edited by Bhunter46Everyone who has ever watched it is a fan... If they don't like it they are A)lying, B) don't actually like Star Wars, C) lying about thier liking of Star Wars, D) have the all too common hang up about "cartoons", E) have forgotten the term "target audience" and lettin that get in the way of STAR WARS... And, lastly, as always, F) some F'd up combo of the above answers.
It was pretty bad never made it through the first season.
Don't want any characters or ships turning up in x-wing.
you should give it another go, you can skip ahead to season 3
about half way through season 3 the story becomes dark, season 4 and 5 are amazing and in my opinion are better than the movies, as they creators really know how to tell their stories and bring a lot of emotion into it
season 6 ended too abruptly to be anything good as it left a lot of loose ends unfinished; particularly with a certain sith lord
but you can only blame disney for that
Edited by executorI definitely enjoyed the bad Trilogy more after watching this series. There was some great stuff in the later seasons. Asajj Ventress ended up pretty cool and a lot of the clones were pretty amazing.
i started watching the Clone Wars after Disney declared that it was all Canon.
The 1st season is the worst. But all of it is much better than the 3 prequel movies.
I don't know if I like any of the Republic or Separatist ships for X-Wing.
Maybe some of the Fringer ships.
And of course, the Gozanti Cruiser.
I really loved the Clone Wars series through 5 and a 1/2 seasons it had managed to make even the prequel era fit into Star Wars somehow, filling in all the elements missing from the wooden horrible acting and CGI sets via a fully CGI cartoon. That is until I tried watching the prequels again... still terrible, actually worse now that I can compare them to Clone Wars. I'm not saying the show didn't have it's dud eps and arcs on occasion but overall it was very good.
It was sad to see the show end but to a large extent it was the story of Ahsoka it started with her introduction in that dumb pilot movie and ended in a bad ass way when she gave up the order and walked away at the birth of the Empire in the end. Her arc was far more convincing than all of the effort put into Anikin in the movies. You really saw the build up of the Empire too, was clever how they handled Tarkin.
As for ships that could fit X-wing I kinda think the fringe stuff would fit pretty well, Hondo's pirate fleet, the Rigger, Black Sun Gozantis, some surplus ARC-170s, Y-wings with their armour plates
You might want to edit out the Ashoka spoiler in your post for the people that haven't watch it yet. I remember really enjoying not knowing how it was going to end when I was watching it for the first time. :-)
No idea how to put in a spoiler tag. Mind you half the people posting in this thread have dismissed the show without giving it much effort from season 1 so will they suddenly start watching it now?
Season 5 ended a year and a half ago, what's the limitation on spoilers?
The series is very good - specially the episodes which say more about the education & training of the clone troopers.
The later episodes with the members of the 501. Legion are awesome, too - (Season 4 Battle of Umbra
)
For the matter of games: i don't want to see any clone war era ships in the Star Wars X-Wing Miniatures Game - BUT FFG please give us a clone wars based ground battle system
I did enjoy The Clone Wars series, especially the episodes that focused on the Troopers. One of my favorite episodes is "The Deserter" (S2, Ep10) where Rex is wounded and is recuperating at a farm run by a clone that deserted after Geonosis and his family. I did like Ahsoka and the Weequay pirate leader Hondo Ohnaka and hope they make an appearance in the new show.

Really? Because what era do you think these ships are from:
Y-Wing
Z-95
Firespray-31
YT-1300
I enjoy it quite a bit. Sometimes it is eye-rollingly childish, but then I remind myself that I'm way out of the target demographic and the fault is with me, not the show.
This is true, but really good cartoon writers know how to appeal across generations at the same time. Take the LEGO movie for instance, or Toy Story, or Ratatouille. Now, I'll grant that doing that takes quite a bit of talent and art, and maybe they didn't want to waste that sort of talent on a show like The Clone Wars.
Overall, I think there are a lot of missed opportunities in the show. I do think that the animation of everything aside from the characters is good. I'm not sure why they had to cheap out on the foreground, when the background is so well done.
I find it hard to watch, but I can see how it might be fun to watch with kids...
The announcer is sooooo annoying.
Who is a fan of the Animated series, Clone Wars?
And what ships would you like to see?
I would to fly a Vulture Droid! :-)

It lost me in season one. The personality of Ashoka really grated on me. She acted way to much like Anakin (a spoiled brat)even though she was supposed to be the product of years of Jedi training. That said, I'd be happy to see some of the non-imperial ships make it into scum and villainy.
As long as they never make a ground war table top out of it. Copy/Paste battle droids against Copy/Paste clone troopers. Jedi frantically returning lasershot with their lightsabers like some John McEnroe on speed. "Did you ever kill a Jedi? Me, neither". Roger, roger.
I love everything Star Wars. I have endeavored to stay a kid though.

First of all, none of those are kids shows. Those are all movies done by major studios who can afford to pay higher quality screen writers. Movies that also MUST appeal to a larger demographic to get a return on their much higher investment. And look at the cast of actors in those movies too. Not really a fair comparison. It's not a matter of not wanting to waste talent, so much as not being able to afford the talent you're asking them to put into the show.
Regardless, I think they managed to appeal to a wider audience with Clone Wars pretty well. There are some episodes--particularly ones featuring Padme that have a lot of political maneuvering that would definitely go over the heads of their target audience.
The character development may be clumsy or ham-fisted at times, but at least it's there. That's more than can be said of most Saturday morning cartoons.
The fact that this thread even exists is pretty telling that the show has substance enough for "adults." I'm just not going to fault a children's show for having children's humor.
No, I don't like it. Moreover judging on the teasers of Rebels, I won't like it as well.
...grumble mumble... ![]()
Huge fan of that series, particularly of any scene with a spaceship in it. Wouldn't mind seeing just about any of 'em on the table.
I loved it, but I wouldn't want ships from it, just don't fit the era. I'm not against them (ETA-2s and V-wings are arguably my favorite ships in SW next to Ys, Clawcraft, and Besu'liiks), I just don't think they fit though. Maybe the V-wing as a S&V ship because they did use those, but the rest doesn't really belong in this game.
There was one thing that I always hated about this show though: Captain Rex. So annoying, because Appo is one of my favorite clones, and seeing him displaced like that makes me really angry.
I re...
Dude really?
Skipped some comments due to spoilers. I have been watching since it came on netflix. I enjoy it a lot. Just got to the point where some episodes are notably out of order in chronology. I looked up the official order on starwars.com. I would have to start the series over and jump around so much... doesn't feel worth it.
Maybe on my second viewing.
