FFG products are under Canon or Legends ?

FFG has gone hogwild into the Legends territory on several of their products. Lets just talk about ships alone in both the RPG and the Miniatures game. NONE of these are technically canon anymore (TIE Defender, HWK-290, etc). Right now as it stands nothing not in movies, Clone Wars and the upcoming book are canon (and those will only last another 20 years when they throw out those for some new ideas also).

But the bottom line is who cares. Look at Spiderman video games... Spiderman Noir, 2099, etc. Just because it is "Legends" does not mean they cannot use it. More toys to play with.

Tie defender is in rebels so canon. And the fireball from resistance is from the old rebublic wideo game...thrawn is canon again. And so on even Lucas film mines from legends. And the whole bit about inquisitors technically comes from WEG Fragments from the Rim which Sam Witwer let Dave Faloni barrow..

Thrawn as a character is canon, and always was, but the Thrawn Trilogy books are Legends. And the admiral Thrawn described in this trilogy is Legend too. And that's a good things. That trilogy is crap. It's author has absolutely no knowledge in strategy otherwise he would have written it differently.

Not quite. It's pretty close, but I'd chalk it up being inspired by the same sources.

I have a setting primer that I give to player that reflects my changes and omissions and the general policy on such things. Below that Original Trilogy Content and FFG content are generally accepted. Some of the more low-rent "let's fill these pages"-FFG content gets put on the banned list though.

Defender is in Rebels.

HWK-290 is in the comics (specifically one of the ones with Kanan)

Things that are in the Movies, Clone Wars, Rebels, Disney Books or Disney Comics is canon. (for better or for worse... I don't exactly like whales that swim through space)

And a lot of the ships are in one or more of these different forms of canon.

EDIT: Oh jeeze, I didn't realize how old this thread was... sorry. That said, A LOT of stuff has come back. Like someone else said in the tread, it was mainly a story wipe, not a content wipe.

Don’t forget that Edge of the Empire was written and released before the Disney acquisition. It took another two years to make the distinction between Legends and Canon (still applauding by the way) so there is bound to be a lot of Legends material in the earlier books. However the latter books do follow canon pretty strictly and it’s clear that a lot more scrutiny is applied.
