Lone Wolf may have cost the Rebels the last battle I saw. If you want to stay out of range two of the nearest squad mate, this makes you predictable. The lone wolf was a rather costly ship, which I was happy to ignore. When it arrived, its squadmates had taken a beating from concentrated fire of superior forces. Holding your distance from squad mates and still keep in range to attack is a demanding task.
Lone Wolf vs. Pack Hunt
Flanking,
Sometimes it works out of all proportion to reasonable expectations, sometimes it gets you defeat in detail. A good bit of it seems psychological.
Also, Lone Wolf is only two points- could use it as a bit of misdirection by putting it on a ship and then NOT keeping it separate...
I don't think Lone Wolf is not worth the 2 points. I just think it is difficult to use.
I'm looking forward to trying it out in a Scum list. Stick it on Boba with a Recon Specialist, run him straight at the enemy, provide long range support with cannon-toting M3-As.
Don't know about Lone Wolf. Doesn't make a huge deal of sense keeping your distance just to get a reroll of one die.
The trick is, just because you can doesn't mean you should. By all means, have a flanker, but if he starts to get into trouble you should back him up, even at the expense of one ability.

The named Z95 pilot in the spread image has a pilot ability tailored for Lone Wolf. He gets an extra attack die for being outside Range 1-2 of all allies. Makes him a cheaper X Wing with good attack and defense less one hull point.
Edited by Engine25Just because someone plays a card terribly doesn't make it a bad card.
If flown correctly Lone Wolf is as good, if not better than Predator for one point less. It works best on flanking Defenders at the moment and Outriders, who can loiter at range 3 and snap shots off with HLC.

Looks like a solid use of the card. HLC flanking defenders!
What's so hard about using this card? Its designed specifically for flankers in mind.
My flankers are always riding solo and are practically always outside range 2 of friendlies.
In my experience it has worked best on a flanker in a 3 or 4 ship list.
My biggest problem is that it is an elite pilot ability. Most flankers already have that slot used up. Squints and Awings with PTL and IV for the phantoms etc.
If you're self-spiting by avoid rounds of attacks because of Lone Wolf you're doing it wrong.
Seems to fit Defenders perfectly, didn't think of that. With his high points cost and weird dial Rexler often ends up by himself anyway, and Lone Wolf both helps keeping him alive and reduces his cost by a point, without hurting his offence all that much. Going to try this out, I think.

Makes you wonder why anyone should even run a rookie X-wing anymore. Z-95's are just so much more point efficient for the health.
I'm really looking forward to running this on Echo, myself. I know that (almost) everyone on here is near insistant on Veteran Instincts for Phantoms, but I've never used it, and had pretty good success with them. Anytime they were shot down, it was because I screwed up maneuvering, rather than Pilot Skill being out of my favor.
or just stick it on the ship you intend on keeping around till the end game. lone wolf has no draw backs when it's on the only ship you have left..
Should also be exciting for some end-game 1v3s with Lone Wolf activated permanently.
yep.
my plan... super luke
luke + r2d2 + lonewolf
leaves more than enough points to create a alternate target for your opponent as obvioulsy most people will not want to see luke during endgame..

That Z-95 pilot is villainous though, not rebellious, so they don't really compare. On the other hand, Lone Wolf Blount is 19 points before you add his missile...
I think Lone Wolf will make for some exciting 2 Ship builds for E-wing/Outrider/Falcons and Defenders/VT-49s
I'd put it on my A-Wings since they always wind up separated from the pack anyway.
