Heart or Head

By Guest, in X-Wing

My first purchase outside of the core set was Imperial Aces. I saw someone run a Turr Phennir (not in Imp Aces, I know, but I didn't know then :P ) and was entranced enough to go buy some Interceptors. In fact, I got Imp Aces while my core set was in the mail so I couldn't even use it without borrowing all the pieces from others.

I loved the Interceptor well before I started playing X-Wing, and one look at its amazing maneuverability made me fall in love with the Ints as a game piece too, so you could say my purchase was a bit of both

One night our flgs toilet leaked in the gaming basement making it a nogo area! The guys in the shop played a couple of xwing games and i observed. The next week i had an opponent lined up but didn't have the game yet. I drove an hour round trip to get the core plus Awing and Bwing the day before so i could have 100pts. Definitely from the heart. But it won that XBA game!

the real question is why does that foam thing have no space for a cow?

Albino Space Camel does not fit in the shallow foam?

It's a bit of both. Something I really like about X-Wing is that it's balanced enough for you to pick any ship you like with being overly penalized for it. My first purchase after the starter set was a TIE Interceptor, and I picked up Imperial Aces shortly after. Sure, they're not the strongest ships in the game, but I nearly always run at least one.

Bought the core set not long after it came out to play with the kids... Round about October time (it was just before my birthday). Not long after that I bought two B-Wings, an A-Wing, two more TIE's, two TIE Bombers and a Lambda shuttle. Played a couple of more games and for some reason it got packed away in the cupboard under the stairs. Dug it out the other day when I saw the Scum and Villainy expansion announced on TGN. Since then I've bought a Firespray, a TIE Phantom, a TIE Defender and a HWK-290. Definitely heart. Definitely!

X-Wing, Darth Vader Tie Advanced, Y-Wing

X-Wing, Y-Wing, TIE Fighter and TIE Advanced. I started when the game first came out, I didn't have that much choice ;p

Two A-Wings...so heart

Mostly head.

When I started out a LOT of stuff was generally unavailable and there's no way I'm paying more than MSRP. I picked up what I could find that would work but which was also available for something less than the MSRP.

ALL Heart...

3 cores,

Awing they only had 1

Tie interceptor X4

2 advanced

2 xwing

2 Ywing

2 bwing

4 tie bomber

1 falcon

1 Firespray

2 space bus

2 tie fighter

All heart.

That was the first purchase. Many since then.

The only person happier than me was the LGS owner.

For me, probably my heart. I got a Firspray, Interceptor and Bomber together. My roommate was all head, he looked at the pilot abilities and upgrades and basically invented Han Shoots First on his own. Let me tell you, it's not easy for a noob to beat HSF with a firespray, 2 ties, a bomber, and an interceptor (w/o PTL).

I actually was somewhat ignorant of what to purchase at first since Wave 3 had already been launched and stuff for Wave 1 and 2 were quite sparse to acquire for some time. Initially I bought the core and a B-Wing and HWK, then 2 A-Wings and my second B-Wing before purchasing the large Imperial ships for upgrades (though they have quickly turned into some of my favourite pieces to fly!). My initial lists were 2A and 2B lists, and when Aces comes out I'm going to fly those again with even more vigor and experience under my belt.

My Second an Third purchases were Core Sets after I bought a pair of Y-Wings first.

I'm pretty sure that the foam came out before the Cow's wave.

Yes, it did, Imperial Aces are on the table to the right. I like to make fun of how it is so awkward.

I got the core set last Christmas and have been catching up ever since (got 1 of each now), but I remember my first shopping experience. I went to the store owner and asked him which expansion would be worthwhile (fun + useful wise). He told me that the local scene was dominated by Y-Wings and that I should grab them while I could... I grabbed the Tie Advance instead, so totally heart :P

(I regret nothing!)

the first expansion I bought was a Y-Wing. Although technically I bought it before I got the starter set...

Heart and Head agreed, X-Wing Expansion for my favorite pilot Wedge.
