On Fortress Worlds and probably new Art...

By TorogTarkdacil812, in Only War

... possibly for new OW book.

Two rather distinct things concerning Only War came to my mind today. First, do we now any other official Fortress Worlds beyond Cadia? I know there is one classified as such in Jericho Reach, but it was a massive Naval base and well, fortress, not an Imperial World in sense of real population/culture/recruitement possibilities. Other than that, I know about Boros from Word Bearers trilogy (last novel), but that was just Cadia rip-off. There may be one in Henry Zou Emperors Mercy, but I do everything I can to purge that abomination from my memory banks.

Second, some good soul just posted rather cool Imperial Guard artworks on one FB Warhammer 40 000 group. They portray a Harakoni, Preatorian and Konigan* Guardsmen in style, quality and positions in rather striiking similiarities with Guard art present in Only War regimental writeups.

Now, I am pretty sure they were not present in any OW book so far, and for the sake of argument say they are comissioned pieces, not fan art. Can the artist post the art he makes before the book is published? So, could it mean we have little peek of new book?

*rather obscure IG regiment presented in Imperial Armour vol I. under few tanks and Special Character, Baneblade ace Maximillian Weisseman. There is no offcial look of their infantry so I consider it rather disturbing, that the artwork shows them how I imagined them, as Cadians in Stahlhelms.

After some deliberation I decided to post images mentioned in second question, I hope I will not be be burned by copyright Inquisition. Or to be proven idiot, as I am only almost totally positive they were not yet printed anywhere, or are just fanart. (Either way, kudos to artist, great job, especially with Konigan)

Anybody?

Strangely, there's rules for Fortress Worlds across the WH40kRP line, but I can't think of a single Fortress World in, for example, Calixis.

There are som in Jericho Reach, at the Iron Collar around Warpgate (Spite, Calisi, ...) and as far as I know only Hethgrad has a decent writeup, where it is just on big fortress and docks on mining colony. So yeah, a fortress world, but not one with fortress world civilization.

Is there any in Askellon Sector/Dark Heresy 2nd?

Is that Harkoni wearing a jet/jump pack, or is that just how the grav-chute, or something of a similar bent looks? Thought only Assault Marines and Seraphim got to be Human(ish) jump infantry. If that's an actual jump pack, I might've just found a new second or third favorite regiment; might even write some BS up that no one will care about. ;) .

If you look at art for Elysian Drop Troops, you'll notice that that is indeed how Grav-Chutes look.

Sad face, and then all is right in the world, again. And yep, looking back, they do, even the glowy blue, whatever that trooper jumped out of. Of course, I had to ask, rather than look it up, it seems.

Actually I would be intrested how would they make Harakoni regiment. From the scant fluff there is about them, their homeworld, despite being hiveworld, is rather unique.

The Imperial Hive World of Harakon is a low-gravity planet with impossibly tall hive cities whose spires reach into the upper atmosphere. The Harakoni use grav-gliders to hunt vapourwyrms in the mountain valleys below their hives. This makes them fearless at high altitudes and natural experts at judging air currents. Their specialised abilities have found a home in the Imperial Guard where regiments drawn from Harakon act as elite airborne Drop Troops.

ARISE! ARIIIIISE!

On the subject of Harakoni Warhawks we could always do some community brainstorming.
