Best table matte

By Giulio, in X-Wing

Hello,

I have found a forum section to introduce my self so I'll do it here. I'm Giulio from Italy and as great SW fans I bought few days ago the starter set and about 10 expansions to start to play X-wing miniatures. I was looking for a good matte to play on, a professional one, I'd prefer a rigid, foldable and professionally printed. I tried to search in the forum but I haven't found any result.

thank you in advance

Printed mats aside, when my X-wing club was formed there were no printed mats on the market, so we made our own. Cut out 3x3' squares of black fabric and sprinkle some white paint on it. I really like those mats better than the printed plastic ones as the ships won't slide nearly as easily as they do on plastic, and they're easier to get to lie completely flat and still.

thank you for the help. I'll try to get a battle mat from UK.

ciao

hcd supplies mats are great. Also, a 3' wide yoga mat works great.

The HCD mats from miniature market are made from neoprene and they do not slip at all. I highly recommend them.

Exactly. Yoga mats will get you similar grippiness, but with the added benefit of that grip on the upper play surface to keep your miniatures from slipping. The HCD mats have a decent amount of grip on top, but it could be a little better. I actually use an HCD mat right now.

I use a GW made 'battlefleet gothic' felt mat with starfield on it.

its 6x4 so you just tape off the area you need or fold it.

As its felt ships and token dont move if the table gets a knock.

I dont know if GW US still stock them, they were never sold in the uk but they fold and store (and roll up small) really well.

Gale Force 9 Vinyl mats.
