Executor star destroyer silhouette ?

By player644224, in Star Wars: Age of Rebellion RPG

Hi everyone

I'm making customs caracs for an Executor star destroyer that I will use in a future scenario...

I know it's a detail, but I want to make it right, and I need some advice about the silhouette.

At first, I was thinking 10 would be enough...then I compared to a praetor II-class star destroyer both in the AoR book and with information from the wookieepedia...

The praetor has a silhouette of 9, which should represent between 4 800 and 8 000 meters

the executor should have a silhouette value that represent... 19 000 meters  wow !!!

So what do you think ? should I give it 10 because it's an abstract value, or should it be proportional and be between 18 and 22 ?

In my game, I just made it a 12 and left it at that. I figured once you get to a certain point, it doesn't matter too terribly much. The whole system is somewhat abstract and how many "in scale" silhouette 11s would you have?

I'm pretty sure it would be a sil 9 since I believe that the creators said that a Death Star is only sil 10 .

Executor Class SIl 9

Death star is Sil 10

Tho for me, it makes no sense for a ship that big to have to use it's silhouette when attacking, unless it is the superlaser. I have been thinking of using a base Silhouette for a weapon, and the increase it when you use batteries, that way a Turbolaser can go to local control and still have a chance of hitting something

Remember silhouette is exponential. As large as the Executor is, it'd be the same "order of magnitude" in terms of the Praetor. While the Praetor is 4,000m long and the Executor is 19,000m long, the latter isn't 10x larger than the Praetor. On the other hand, the Executor IS more than 10x larger than a "big" silhouette 8 Imperial Star Destroyer...

yes, you are right, it probably make more sense to consider silhouette as an abstract value

Thank you for your responses

The Edge of the Empire book specifically says the Death Star is Sil 10. However, the Age of Rebellion rulebook changes this line to say "Silhouette 10 an up is reserved for the very largest of space stations or starships" [AoR pg 236]. I'm not sure why they made this change but the Death Star might end up as higher than 10 if it ever gets written up.

Exactly. Silouhette is more a 'grading system' than anything, rather than a quantitative measurement:

It's meaningfully bigger than normal 'capital ships', but not as big as the death star. Hence 9.

Put it another way: in an engagement between a Praetor and an Executor, do you think either of them has a meaningful manouvrability advantage?
