Verispex strikes me more of a seeker personally, but that's what's nice about the role system you can use both.

Back when work started on DH2, I was lined up to write the character creation section. It never went far - other issues in my life forced me to part ways with FFG at that point, so someone else took my place on the project - but I do recall making notes on how each given combination of Background and Role could play out. The thought exercise itself, though it never came to anything practical, was an enlightening one for the range of interesting and unusual combinations that resulted in really evocative concepts.

I'm not sure where that notebook is now - I've moved house since then - but the idea's a solid one. You can already combine any background with any role, so thinking about what an Administratum Warrior or an Adeptus Astra Telepathica Seeker could be is a great way to explore the background.

Churigeons are the doctors of the system. There was no medical class in the base book of the first edition, there never really ended up being one.

There was a branch of the adept that was all about medicae; not to mention a Tech-priest was quite a competent doctor with the proper INT, mecharendrites and skills Cleric was acceptable as well IIRC (never had alot of clerics in my games..);...of course there was no real, fixed, occupation for the careers in DH1; it was really up to the plaeyrs to be as theyw anted with how they build their characters...

The Scum getting the Medicae skill early on was easy for me to accept. I always took it as a way to play the Charlatan-Healer, the back-ally surgeon, the gutter, or 'that guy' who knew how to pull out stub rounds after a shooting.

Don't think of the Chirugeon as a healer, but rather a Medical/Forensics/Torture expert. They can heal and probably did before their career started in the Inquisition, but likely they'll be using their medical knowledge to assist the Inquisition in a CSI capacity... Medical Examiner... Expert on torture... etc...

I still think that Sage or Seeker can do those roles better. Chirugeon has Dedicated Healer and the role seems to be based around that rather limited role.

Actually, the Chirurgeon clearly states they make excellent torturers using their medical knowledge to "dig" out the truth.

Stating it and actually having the mechanics to back it up are two different things. I know which special ability would be FAR more useful for a forensic expert (hint: it's not the one that only applies to first aid).
