Stop Gap Imp Huge Ship

By mlbrogueone, in X-Wing

The group that meets at the FLGS is thinking of doing an epic match next week. 2 teams and crap ton of points.

But having a hoard of Imperial fighters just doesn't feel right so we are thinking of giving the Imps a Corvette and just using the same stats it has for the Rebellion.

Has anybody done this already and found any issues/problems they wished they'd thought about first?

Also, as a stop gap measure until huge ships are released do you think FFG would ever release a pack of just cards, dials, and cardboard bases so that we could formally make an Imperial Corvette?

Right now for our group the biggest turn off to epic play is that only one faction has cap ships.

Nobody stops you from doing that. The empire actually had CR-90s too.

We've talked about doing that.

Only the Imps can't use rebel only cards for it, obviously

And yes or does kind of suck using the Tantive vs many Imps.

Outgunned and out numbered two to one

Amusingly, the CR90 will probably be much more effective against Rebels.

The Falcon, Y-Wings, B-Wings and the GR-75 will all have good reason to fear it's main weapon and single turbolasers.

we really need an imperial huge ship.

My friend and I actually did a CR-90 duel after we both obtained ours. I played Imperials and he had Rebels. Close game. He won with a couple Hull remaining on his CR's front section, after Echo pretty well wiped its engine block out single handedly.

the only thing I would watch out for is that you lose a bunch of the options it comes with from being faction specific, including a bunch of the ones designed for it to be Rebel-crewed. However, especially with the Deci introducing a few new crew, it pretty well overcomes this.

Could always go for this.....

If the imperial huge ships aren't this big it will just feel wrong.

If you take a look at the Devastator it is practically a stop gap capital ship. It has 0 agility, 3 crew, turret primary weapon. torpedoes and bombs. Heck all that is missing is hard point, cargo, and team slot.

I love the effort, of doing the crew, i want to play with this, greettings.

Actually...

I was the first one to post Mel-Miniature's cards on here (funny how those crew cards match the arrangement I used there also even though he has several others that I didn't post.), but I had asked his permission to post them as I figured if he wanted them on there he would have posted them here. He also made versions for my DP20 conversion and posted them on the same page but got a few things wrong.

And I was going to suggest using the CR90 as a DP20 proxy miniature.

...and to also suggest using the GR75 as an Imperial Gozanti proxy.

I think I'm done with this, and as for what they could release with it

I'd say they'd cough up one TIE fighter just like with the GR75...

TIE/rc starfighter - a TIE fighter with systems upgrade?

TIE/gt starfighter - a TIE fighter with missiles.

TIE/In/refit - Later interceptors had blasters and missiles.

Sunspot Squadron - TIE/Interceptors with proton torpedoes.

Anyone good at estimating point cost??

I don't know if proxying ships matters to you but that version of the DP20 could always use some more playtesting, and I have a few modification in mind even now after the few games we've had with it.

1 meter long.... nice. You can tell that the scale is still smaller than even the CR-90, but it still looks really intimidating.

This is in an 8.5x11 ratio, and I suggest that size glossy photo paper in inches,
180g+ and printed "fit to page" as it is bigger by pixel dimensions.
Put 3x3 pilot cards on an 8.5x11 inch page if you doubt the size. 15031862421_b11b98e2b5_o.png
