I am getting into X-wing just barely and I am lost on what to store my ships tokens and such in. I don't have the money for battle foam. Is there a cheep model of tackle box or something I could get from say home depot that would do? Something that wont damage my Miniatures? Amy advice or examples would be great. Thanks

Bsasically what I have, and will be getting another soon.
I leave all the large base ships in their original plastic and carry those in a tote bag with a star wars themed item on the front. Its a silk screen of a YT like ship in the I.M.P.S. series that my sig is taken from.
Just ordered a Bantha Skull tonight to slap on the front.. got black and white, might make the skull one color and the big tusks the other.. lol.
these do the job nicely though, I can hand off one to a friend and they can get out ships and cards to build their list, and I have a binder with pre printed lists.

Best or cheap. Pick one....
Will any of the plano's hold a transport?
Will any of the plano's hold a transport?
I can attest that the 1374 will hold the CR-90 (since the corvette's larger, makes for better representation of the available space) in the top storage compartment. It won't fit with the original plastic shell- you'll have to make some form of custom foam mooring, but it fits. If you were willing to forgo the plastic shell on the GR-75 as well, you could easily fit 3 in the same top section with no issue.

As much as I dislike the use of the plano boxes, a good/cheap addition to this for storage is air conditioner weather seal foam. Just cut what you need with a razor knife. Comes in 1.25 and 2.25 inch by 42 inch lengths at the hardware store for a buck and a half.

I cut the molded plastic "seat" of the CR90 down and it all just barely fits inside the top part of the 1374. There's no plastic over the top of the CR90, though. A Rebel Transport (also in the original blister, cut down to size and rubber-banded to hold it together) fits partly under the nose of the CR90, which is a pretty efficient use of space.
Thanks for all the help being new its always
great to get ideas on what works the best.

These are the same storage boxes I use to satisfy my OCD each ship is stored assembled with 1 peg. I also use the small bag that the base and pegs came in to store all the tokens I need for each ship instead of putting them all in one box. My OCD couldn't handle that.I also recommend the Plano 5231 for a beginning collection. It will hold roughly 20 or so ships comfortably, depending on the ships.
However, with my recent purchase of a handful of Z-95s and my birthday in a week, I have officially outgrown my Plano 5231. Then, last night, I found this at Home Depot:
It comes in a 2-pack for only $10- about the same price as the Plano 5231, but with more storage space. The front half of each case has fixed dividers, but the back half has removable dividers for storing large ships, range rulers, and etc. Like Parakitor, I also grabbed a small tackle box for like $1.50 at the same time I got the HDX cases to store my tokens, and it fits neatly in that back section.
The cases lock together very securely, and can be stacked indefinitely which allows for plenty of room for expanding. Once Scum and Villainy is in my hands I plan on picking up another 2-pack and using 1 case per faction, leaving me with one case leftover for whatever.
I highly recommend these- I was very happy to stumble across them. I would recommend like Dagobah Dave said, hanging on to your plastic packaging for the ships. They should easily fit into the compartments in this case.
I'm pretty OCD too and use a cheap Stanley box, actually 4 of them, see my signature for everything that fits. They are about $15 for two and they are interlocking!
I've got two of these (one per faction) that perfectly fits everything.

You could take your fleet on tour in those.
The cheapest way to store the ships, is to kept the inner blĂster and get all in a shoe box, greettings.
I love the affordability of these options.
