Blinded pilot and accuracy corrector

By Forgottenlore, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Accuracy corrected allows you to cancel all your attack dice results and add 2 booms.

Blinded pilot forces to to attack with no dice

AC basically bypasses the effect of the blinded pilot card, right?

Looks like it to me.

Hm. If you don't roll dice, aren't there no dice results to cancel? Wouldn't that preclude Accuracy Corrector coming into play? Similar to how being ionized cancels "before/when you reveal your maneuver dial" actions.

It's pretty well established that when something says "all" zero is included in there.

For example, using a TL to reroll dice, even though you reroll zero of them, or convert zero <focus> into <hits>

Right, but blinded pilot says when you next attack, you don't roll dice. There aren't any hits, crits, eyes or blanks to cancel, there's not even 0, the dice roll is non-existent... is there precedence for being able to spend a target lock/focus when you don't roll any attack dice? I know you can spend them to change no dice when you have results.

Yes, Garven Dreis

There are 0 dice rolled with blinded pilot. Garven Dreis can have a blinded crit with a focus token. Attack, roll 0 dice, modify 0 dice with his focus token and pass it. Hobbie Klivian could have a blinded pilot crit and a TL, he could clear a stress but rolling 0 dice, and then spend his TL to clear his stress by rerolling 0 dice.

The dice roll isn't non-existent, it's just 0 dice. 0 dice is a valid number of dice.

There's not even 0, the dice roll is non-existent...

There's no effective difference between zero dice and a non-existent roll.

You can use a focus even though there are no <focus> faces to change, in that case the <focus> face is non-existent. You can spend a TL but change 0 dice, that is effectively the same thing.

So short of a FAQ entry saying otherwise, which is of course always possible. The only logical conclusion is that it works, because we already know that zero is a valid value for any.

There's no effective difference between zero dice and a non-existent roll.

... as long as the non-existent roll is during an existing attack, right? :)

Otherwise Garven could pass Corran Horn a focus token in the end phase, off of his non-existing roll during his non-existing attack.

In Garven's case, he can pass a focus token when he spends a focus token. So something (anything) has to give him the opportunity to spend the token. That opportunity exists during an attack or defense (as appropriate for him) regardless of whether he actually rolls dice.

So on an attack with Blinded Pilot, or a defense against Wedge with Outmaneuver, the opportunity to spend the token still exists, and the token can be spent regardless of whether or not it will actually affect any dice.

True, and good point. The fact that you don't roll dice, doesn't mean you skip the roll dice step, you just roll 0 dice.

When rolling with blinded pilot, you also still roll defence dice. You don't skip steps in the attack. With AC thisbis even more important as the defence dice can still cancel the 2 hits you added from AC
