Tournament list building is all about finding something you're comfortable with. If you're not comfortable flying a list before a tourney, then it isn't going to get any easier during the stress of competitive play.

Although it might the a rare case where you don't mind Wedge dying first. As long as he can stick around long enough to help remove some shields to let Etahn's crit-factory start churning.

If you run Tarn, please take the mandatory R7 Astromech to make Tarn that more annoying!

Ok, so there are some loaded questions in here I'd like to clear up first.

1) What would you say is your level of understanding of the game and competitive skill on a 1-10 ratio? 1 being I play for pure fun, and 10 being I plan to go to Worlds and test my skills against the best in the world

2) What would you say is the level of understanding of the game and competitive skill of the players at your FLGS?

A wise man once said, the list can't save you. And at some point, player skill will make or break every squad.

List construction is one of my favorite aspects to this game, but it all depends on the level at which you are playing at. If it is a group of guys, gathering for a friendly event then I would say run whatever you like. Bring what brought you into this game. I myself would bring Vader and some named TIE fighters because it reminds me of that Deathstar trench run.

Now, that list may not be the most competitive, but in a friendly environment it would not matter.

Conversely, if you are a competitive player (say a 6 or above on the aforementioned scale) who is really taking the game a bit more seriously and competitively, have been at least reading up on the top lists at Regionals and Nationals, have a solid idea of what combos are good, and what to watch out for, then you need to run a few more 'meta' driven lists questions and take the current meta into account when designing a list.

1) Can your list handle a Fat Han or Fat Chewie list?
2) Can your list take on a TIE Phantom reasonably well?
3) Can you survive the onslaught that is the TIE swarm?

If you feel you have an answer or tactic to all of the those lists, then you have a good core.

I hope that helps, but to be more direct from a competitive viewpoint, I would never run Chewie without C3P0 at this point in the meta, but I would prefer Han with Veteran Instincts and 3P0 to counter those pesky Whisper lists.

Biggs = Gold for a Fat Falcon lists as Biggs drain shots away from your lovely Space Pizza. Maybe consider ways to make Biggs live a little longer.

Wedge is good, don't get me wrong, great against the Fat Falcons lists actually as he kills 3P0 games altogether. Not so much against the Swarm or Phantom builds however, who can out maneuver him. Maybe try some Z for blocking and flanking instead.

Looks good. I would try and find a way to get draw their fire on Chewie so Biggs can last longer!
