ARC-170 Descendant?

By LoTech, in X-Wing

Anybody know what this ship is? Looks like it could be a descendant of the ARC-170 design from the clone wars. Perhaps something we will see in a future wave as heavy bomber for the rebellion? I certainly wouldn't mind.

OH SWEET LORD IN HEAVEN

I AM SO AROUSED BY THAT DESIGN.

Possibly a PTB-625 planetary bomber

I don't like the 'winglets' on the nose very much, but without those, I would REALLY have liked to see this as the Z-95 instead of what we have... (Or at least those engines on the Z-95, so it looked more like the Clone Wars version)

Heresy, the Star Wars Galaxies Z-95 we got is perfect.

It does look like a half-way between the Z-95 and the ARC-170.

I'm guessing it's a PTB-625, but I really don't know.

We'll find out once we get our hands on that book I guess.

Could just be a ARC-170 modded by the rebels.

I feel like the role playing game might have more leeway on creating or tweaking things moreso than X-Wing.

I dnt think so. Its prob a Arc-170 with E.L.P to keep it more modern and or atmo enhancements for b etter atmo navi without the ned for shiled enhancement

That's not an ARC-170 at all, dudes.

Not a 170, but it looks a lot like something based on the ARC.

Well yeah. That was more in response to those saying it was a modified ARC.

Me very like.

Well, if they're gonna go and introduce cool new ships in the AoR RPG, the least they can do is produce models for 'em, too. :D

They added the HWK-290 in the new EotE sourcebook.....it's not a bad little ship in that game.

Looks like a Space Marine Thunderhawk for 40K to me =p

Seems I wasn't the only one thinking Thunderhawk

Oh please, PLEASE tell me the stats and stuff, I gotta' know.

And yeah. She's a fast little bugger, I bet.

One of the new careers is the Rigger, a rebel pilot who brings their own (usually heavily modified) fighter into the battle, rather than stock craft. It's a safe bet they are showing an example in the form of a modded ARC.

"Rigger

While most Rebel Aces operate standard vehicles maintained by engineering crews, a surprising number bring their own private vehicles with them into a fight. The Rigger doesn’t believe in risking his life from the seat of a stock-class anything, and is always adding, tweaking, and fine-tuning his vehicle not only to achieve the highest performance, but also to bring unexpected surprises with him to the battlefield."

I don't own the book. I was looking at it at my FLGS last night and saw it there. It's in the new Far Horizons EotE sourcebook.

I've heard eating your own words is very good for you.

Perhaps I should try that.

Like now.

Well, if that's a modded ARC ... then I hope that means they'll provide official stats for an ARC to do the modding from at some point. (I like the idea of dipping into Clone Wars surplus to stock the supplies of rag-tag Rebels or the occasional space pirate.)

I wonder why they didn't keep the asterisk-formation S-foils on it, though? REMOVING the S-foils would seem to be a step away from the X-Wing cool-factor. ;) Plus, maybe I missed it, but I'm not sure how the current rules would handle taking away functionality from a starfighter vs. just adding mods. I imagine some GM hand-waving would be involved somewhere.

I've got a player who has been interested in upgrading his Headhunter to be a quasi-X-Wing with some S-foils, but I'm not sure what mod would best correspond to that -- I've read some conflicting explanations of just what it is that the expanding S-foils DO for a starfighter: "increased maneuverability," "heat dissipation for weapons use," "expands the coverage of the shields," etc. Hence, I'm wondering how you'd handle it, rules-wise, to TAKE AWAY the expanding S-foils from an ARC-170.

EDIT: Oops. Just realized that I was responding to this in the X-Wing Miniatures forum, not EoE. I probably should take any rules suppositions regarding starfighter modification over there instead. Sorry!
