A navigator might actually work under Engineer if it's combined with the flight engineer role.

Possibly a commander as well.

I am still waiting for FFG to make some other race besides the Corellian Human that can train a skill to 3 at character creation. Every time I see a new race not have something like this it bugs me that the Corellians do have it.

I was sort of hoping to see Wroonians in the Ace splatbook, complete with the ability to train Space Piloting to 3. Then again, they're incredibly easy to house rule!

Take a Corellian, give it the Tobias Funke treatment and, presto, Wroonian.

Wroonians are never-nudes?

Nah, you gotta be an ugly bug-eyed monster to win a berth in an AoR splatbook! :)

The Alliance would likely fall to pieces if it had twi'leks or zeltrons.

I'm beginning to think Maelora is an imperial spy...she seems to only like the near human species.

No.. no... wroonians blue themselves..

Aww, I'm just teasing, Samophlange. I doubt even Erik is more pro-Alliance than me!

It's a recurring joke in our game that they were keeping all the 'pretty' races back for F&D and the Alliance ones all looked freakish.

And hey, we haven't even had Lamproids yet!

Still waiting on stats for the Ee !

We should have lamproids... and priapulins, and dugs...

... because the Alliance needs moar tapeworms!

That's how the Alliance keeps those slim figures.

Mae, what is left on your pretty species wishlist at this point, with F&D finally out?

My wishlist, Keith? What I'd call 'PC species' - those races that would be lead characters or speaking roles in movies, TV series, or the KotOR MMO - zeltrons, pantorans, arkanians, ubese, rattataki, cathar, miralukans, tholothians, devaronians, kiffar, clawdites, pureblood sith, wroonians.

I accept that some of the latter ones may not be appropriate to an Original Trilogy setting, but we've seen arkanians and pantorans in the EoE adventures, so it's frustrating not being able to make PCs of these races.

Put bluntly, my players don't want to play things like Chevin, and I feel these races are kinda niche. I accept some people will want cantina background aliens or skiff guards, but I'd sooner see the humanlike ones first, before we start scraping the barrel for creatures that were only on-screen for a fraction of a second. Personally I wouldn't allow PC races like jawas, tusken raiders or yoda species because that would ruin their mystique, but that's just a matter of taste.

I don't personally want ewoks or gungans, but I would expect to see these races because they played a major role in the movies.

For fun. I'll throw Tagorians and Kaleesh in there. but I second Maelora's list (although I would allow Jawas). And I will show up at FFG HQ if we get Arcanians but no offshoots.

I'm just going to go out on a limb and say there might be more books with more species coming. There are thousands of species in the Star Wars galaxy.

Personally if I were starting in a new campaign now, I'd absolutely roll up a Chevin Entrepreneur. I just put one as an NPC in my game last night and he was a big hit.

I like your thinking. Clawdites are an interesting species with plenty of backstory regarding their oppression by the Zolanders.

Well, I'd question if tholothian is worth doing as a species. The head tentacles are listed as a headdress, not part of them. I mean, there are stats for Corellian, true, but I don't see Tholothian as having much going for them in terms of unique identity (other than headgear) to make them worth statting out as an option. Kiffar, too, would seem to have little distinguishing them from baseline humans to make a stat block worthwhile. I would be surprised to see them cover Wroonians. They are a bit obscure (other than the fact that Pantorans were briefly mistaken for them).

Now that Ventress is canon revealed to come from Dathomir, I also doubt you'll see anything relating to rattatak anywhere in canon for some time. However, if you just want Ventress' species, that seems like it'd be ideal as a Near Human species for one of what I can only presume would be one of the F&D Career or location splatbooks. In fact, the bulk of the rest of your entries seem pretty likely to find their way into class books that just haven't been announced yet. (again, I have no information on this, I can just at a glance see the bulk of them fitting into F&D careers, and a few others fitting into AOR careers, certainly as front-runner options).

But basically, if they aren't in a film (and semi-popular/well known as a species) or in The Clone Wars, I wouldn't hold my breath unless they were incredibly popular (like Chiss), or they belong to a larger region of space that is a prime target for a location book (Selonian, Drall in Corellian Sector). We'll all just have to wait and see, though.

I'll say this, I like the ugly ones. As a gamer, I'd rather have something new and interesting, than the blue, pink, or green human. They are more fun for me to play, and they are more fun for me to write. Even if you don't use them as PCs, you can certainly learn about them with the extensive fluff species get in this system, and use that information to make a well fleshed out, interesting and unique recurring BBEG or rival.

Wait, what? Clearly I'm behind recent canon developments...

The Clone Wars cartoon went to Dathomir. TCW is considered canon, not legends. The Rattataki stuff is Legends from the DHC comcis and the Tartovsky cartoon.

Cool, thanks. I did watch TCW cartoon, but must have missed the implications... the wookiepedia article makes it clearer. So in Legends she's still heavily associated with Rattatak, just not that species? Kind of makes sense I guess.

Personally I'm disappointed that FFG has to limit themselves to what's now 'canon'.

Chiss aren't in the movies and we got them. Plus, stuff like Arkanians shows up in the actual EoE adventures. I can't see why they can be NPCs and not PCs.

While I'm sure there are people out there who would play any given species, it makes sense to release humanoid races along with the bizarre ones... but all we've seen in the last three splatbooks is freakshow stuff :( I would be happier seeing more of a mix.

KRKappel's comment (#92) is probably more of a probability assessment than a binary topic, I guess. While I would agree that Wroonians, Kiffar and Thotholians don't warrant an appearance as separate species, I can support the idea of mixing the species in splat books more. The three species per book could be:

- one cute one,

- one real alien,

- one fitting the / essential to the career

Also, it would be cool if we could get a bit more info on the species published as NPCs, e.g. Lutrillians or Ughnaught in EotE - JoY. (had to look up the spelling of Ugnaught again ;)

I would want Rishii's too!

About beast rider... finally I can become Optimus Prime riding a giant tyranosaur rex robot! Yeaaah :D

PS: I want to appraise and say thanks to Desslok for the awesome and nice detail for describing every pic/gif at forums that he post for people that cannot see them. Dess, you rocks ;)

Personally, I'm more for seeing all three in the third (bolded) category.
