GAHHHHH!... .Wallet deflector shields failing!!!
I wonder what the Signature Abilities are going to be. You could easily just reskin the ones from Dangerous Covenants for starship combat (1 on killing minion groups, another on withstanding damage).
Good stuff, I always loved the juxtaposed imagery of Stormtroopers on Dewbacks. Beast Master sounds fun. Hot Shot sounds like it will have the most interesting new Talents, because honestly the write up reads like how someone would simply choose to role play a Pilot, so the Talents will really have to set it apart I would imagine. Rigger is pretty straightforward, but should add nicely to modding starships, begs the question though of what they will do for Technicians? A recycle of Rigger in that book as one maybe?
The expansion of astromechs sounds cool also.
I've got no dog in the fight for the races but the art is cool. Still waiting for Zygerrians.
Edited by 2P51So, we'll be getting our first species with more than 2 arms! Wonder how that'll play out.
I think the winged mounts shown in the painting are those creatures from Onderon, shown in the Clone Wars. I loved those, I can't wait to have some air combat on winged mounts!
Our wallets can't repel product of that magnitude!

Engage those books at point blank range.....
Astromech PC you say? So we can play Pete from Darths&Droids?

Our wallets will last longer against those supplements than they will against that Core book.
That's no Core Rule Book... That's a whole new Star Wars property every week!
Okay I was trying to stay on theme, but I think I failed a bit.

But if we use our credit cards we can take them all with us!
I gotta say, this was a fun book to playtest.
Really looking forward to the art in this book. LOVE that Xexto in the flight suit!

It was fun to be part of the writing team too. Glad to work with Andy, Keith, Sterling and Jason on it.
I was this close to suggesting a beast-rider class! Tauntauns and dewbacks are pretty iconic.
The new specialisations sound great; a non-Force version of Starfighter Ace and a 'techie' spec as 2P51 suggested.
I'm a lot less enamoured with yet more barrel-scraping races. I'd like just one non-human AoR race that wasn't a bug-eyed freak. But I guess some people were waiting for ChadraFan, and at least the four-armed thing will settle the arguments for the munchkins who think that four arms gives them double attacks per round...
And I guess the Prune Face guys make thematic sense for the Alliance.
(Meh, I probably shouldn't complain. Our Alliance is 90% bug-eyed freaks, and our Empire is rabidly xenophobic. One reason the Imperials still have widespread human support is their propaganda that 'grotesque bug-eyed monsters' intend to steal human jobs and their women... Last week, one of the party's Imperial foes lashed them with a choice Scathing Retort that the human members were 'alien-loving traitor scum'. That hurt. )
And finally, congrats to those who were involved with this supplement! May we continue to see more.
Edited by MaeloraPretty much all "bug-eyed freaks" make thematic sense for the Rebellion. The Empire's anti-alien bias and enslavement is what caused a lot of races to join the Rebellion.
I want to know how that four-armed guy fits in a cockpit!
I am still waiting for FFG to make some other race besides the Corellian Human that can train a skill to 3 at character creation. Every time I see a new race not have something like this it bugs me that the Corellians do have it.
So, seeing this, I'm sort of surprised that we didn't get a Beast Tamer in the Colonist or Explorer books. Pathfinder in F&D can do it, now Beast Rider in AoR, but nothing in Edge, where it seems like it'd fit even more.
Weird! Rancher seems like an obvious choice for Colonist if you're planning on "pets" being a thing.
We sort of already had it in Survivalist in EoE though.

Survivalist has 2 ranks of Hunter that interact with Beasts, and that's it. Not sure how that satisfactorily covers taming beasts and mounts at all.
I agree it seemed like it would fit in Explorer, but any Explorer can also take Beast Rider as a specialization...

Ummm I did say sort of. Hunter adds boost dice to all checks when interacting with beasts. I would call taming interacting with a beast. I'm pretty sure it will require a Survival and/or Xenology skill check, which Survivalist has as career skills. So the ability to do this is "sort of" already covered by Survivalist.
I gotta say, this was a fun book to playtest.

Play-testing was indeed fun.
