New player/beginner articles anyone be interested to read?

By DARK FATE11, in UFS General Discussion

Hey everyone Darkfate here I just wanted to know if anyone would be interested in reading articles about a beginners perspective from this game. As far as competitive play, expenses for card and potential traveling, tourney support, gamer environment, and just the gameplay as a whole. The reason why I wanna do this is to contribute to the community as a whole, maybe get new players even more interested in the game when they see what a fellow new player is dealing with. Now I've had cards for a bit but never really got to play I was the game VS SYSTEM but dumb ude cancelled the game and being that I had cards for this game easy transition. So thats how I got into this in addition to being a die hard fighting game fan. Now Ive recently started getting tournament at my hobby shop and things are good got 6 people per event so far and we just started so decent start. Also when I did buy it was at darkstalkers and fight to the futue I bought one box of each and one of cutting edge and domination, then I had just stopped cause VS was getting so that got my attention but when it died, I got back into this game fiercely I bought 2 boxes of every set after realm of midnight ( wanted to get realm of midnight but out of print Im a sad panda, heres hoping I get trades) Anyways so I at least caught up with the sets. As far as deck I have a dual symbol rock howard the deck the promo one symbols all and order and a hugo deck best off of earth. I'm working on others, but yea thats my story for this game I may attend the ny regional but we'll see I may go just for trades. But yea let me know if yous would be interested in the articles.

I would. I bought a couple boxes when UFS was new, but then dropped out due to lack of personal interest. I've been going over the boards for a while now but I still have a lot of questions and it'd be cool to have a guideline of sorts to get familiar with the game as well as the competitive side and deckbuilding. I'd turn to a local scene but from what I understand, there isn't really one. At one point I know that some people were playing competitively here, and I was invited to come out when I was just buying casually because the cards were cool, but apparently the guy convinced both the store he was working at, as well as another store afterwards when they moved the scene, to buy a bunch of stock, and then they quit playing, at least there, and disappeared. The end result is that I've been buying sealed boxes and loose boosters for like a dollar a pack of everything up to the newest set 12 and want to see if I can start something locally.

I do have a few concerns about the game though, and some more structured help would be great.

you could try teamcanadaonline.com there are a couple good articles over there, i personally wrote articles for how to build decks for certain characters on a budget and for newer players over there, i think there were some articles over there about the game in general you may have to dig back a bit, also check ufscards.com they have some articles... though i think the last time someone posted on there it was for the GCC...

I would LOVE to read articles from a new player perspective.

New player perspectives are perhaps the most important feedback that we don't get regularly here. Lay it on us. I'm sure Antigoth would be happy to publish it on TeamCanada's site if it's a decent read.

Antigoth is more then happy to publish more articles, and pay people for Articles.

Awesome. That Teamcanadaonline site is great. More deck-building and top tier strategies, like which cards are dominating and auto-includes in top performing decks of different types, would be nice. I've been piecing together this information from the deck build forums but a place for new players to see what's junk and what you pretty much have to have in quadruples to be competitive would be money. But yeah, very good articles.

well no card is really trash, look at Promo Riquo, was called the WORST character ever... and it almost top 16'd at Worlds... yeah... and as i try to do in my articles over there i do everything possible to make a deck both cheap and while shining light on cards that get overlooked, stay tuned for more of them as i might be showing some more badly overlooked cards here VERY soon.

I suppose almost any card could find a home in the right deck. I guess what I meant is that it seems in this game that a lot of winning decks seem to run many of the same cards if the symbol allows. Like Tag Along, Red Lotus, Rejection, KFT, Feline Spike, Ira Spinta, Olcadan's Mentoring, Lord of the Makai, Seal of Cessation, and a few more. Some more information on common used combos, strategies, and just cards that are heavy in the game now would be cool if presented in a more linear structure. Just so new players will know some of the more common things to look out for and learn to play.

As someone getting into the game, I would love to read stuff about the game. I feel really lost with the sheer amoutns of legal sets and how some sets are harder to get then others so people have a huge advantage over me.
