What are some good squads that have Etahn in them that you've gotten good mileage with?
I was thinking something like:
Etahn with R2D2 (36)
Tala X3 (39)
Either a Dagger, Blue with adv sensors, or biggs

Its ethan clearly ffg spelt it wrong.
With Etahn around, the best bet is to fill your squad with 3 attack ships and use the Zs as fillers. Etahn with 2 Blues and 2 Bandits has served me well, as has Etahn with three Blues, Etahn with XXZZ, BXX, etc. OR, just do a straight swarm with the Zs and only Etahn. To keep R2-D2, you can do Four Talas and 1 Bandit.
It's like saying "It Han". As if Han Solo asked what was Luke's Favorite Stephen King book, and Luke Replied... "It.... Han."
I call him Ozzy, because his name kind of sounds like 'eating a bat'
Etahn R2-D2, Predator, shield upgrade, and sensor jammer
4X Tala Squad
Keep Etahn alive and steamroll them with critts.
The fundamental problem with him is keeping him alive. Decked out this way he is a great end game piece if they leave him for last. Hard to kill if they go for him first.

I feel like it might be difficult to keep him pointed in the right direction (to deal out teammate crits) if he's using his limited greens for the R2-D2 boost. IMO Biggs might be a better tool for keeping him alive, if you're not comfortable going with the arc-dodging attempt via PTL/Advanced Sensors/R2 Astro and/or EU.
Another advantage to Biggs is that it lets you cram a 3 attack ship in there, which I agree is key to making the most of his ability. Using nothing but Headhunters can force you into an uphill battle versus a squad full of 3 dice evaders.
Lot's of good options but sadly I only have access to one b wing until reb aces becomes available to all and only have 3 z's ![]()
The 4 Tala squads seem weak but believe me the main reason to run them is to block lanes and muck it up. I've had no problem taking down high PS phantoms with this build. Everything depends on good piloting but doesn't it always.
Etahn 2Z's and Biggs is a good alternative that I ran before I got my 4th Z. Even Ran DTF on Etahn to soak critts off of Biggs. The most important thing is to use what you are comfortable with and stick with it until you really know how it works.
I have tried and liked very much:
Etahn+R2/PTL
Roark+Ion Cannon
3x Z95 Bandits
Leaves a humble 4 points for upgrades.
Tried and liked Chewie as a very cheap resilience boost to Roark but having 3x Tala keeps calling. ![]()
Also might want to try adding tactician to Roark but never tried that myself. On my to-do list.
[edit] typo.
Edited by ElkerlycTactician is arc dependent and range range dependent, and that hurts HWK's.

I know. Still it is going to be tried and tested.
A positive side effect of all this testing is the gaming I get along with it! ![]()
I've been trying out the following recently
Airen Cracken - Swarm Tactics & Cluster Missiles
Etahn - Flechettes, Munition Failsafe & Vet Instincts
3 x Tala
Etahn R2-D2, Predator, shield upgrade, and sensor jammer
4X Tala Squad

Stacking defensively is certainly an option, but the other way to keep him alive is force your opponent to choose. Honestly, Etahn shouldn't be anywhere near your formation; he is a flanker. In fact, he could almost certainly benefit from the new Lone Wolf EPT. You make the enemy choose to fight your formation, where most of the fire is coming from, but potentially suffer a large number of critical hits. His other choice is to pursue Etahn, whom he can likely make short work of with focus fire, but then he is forced to open himself to broadside fire from a dangerous fighter cluster. This, as your opponent will know, is likely the worse option for him. This is what makes Etahn so versatile compared to other support ships that effect entire teams: he does not have to be close by. Any player of Etahn would be most unwise not to exploit this fact extensively.

Agreed. He is at his best with 3 atk ships as support.
Etahn + R2 Astromech

Just don't play against a double Falcon list.
I've had some luck running him an high PS, 3 ship squad but the focus isn't really on Etahn but the Wedge and Wes.

Etahn+R2D2
Wes+VI+R2
Wedge+PTL+R2
I managed to get 1° place in regional with Etahn BBZZ sq.
I made some changes and now playing Wes Janson + Etahn +Tala sq.X3. Not upgrades, but with Wes in formation taking evades and focus out, crits gets a lot of chances from the rest of the ships.
I just started playing Vassal this past Sunday and have been getting rocked. My typical list is
Etahn
+PTL
+R2
Biggs
Tarn (R7) or Hobbie (R3-A2) this ones changes and affects whether Etahn gets a R5P9 instead
Bandit
I've mostly been playing rebel swarms and just can't kill them fast enough. Now I'm sure that the learning curve of Vassal movement will go away (everything seems to go much longer than expected). And I have played this list IRL and did very well against lower total ship builds. But it struggles against a well flown rebel swarm. So much so I'm thinking of getting some A's in there for more maneuverability. I know I will get better at Vassal, and I know that my skill level in the game will raise. It's just been so brutal beat downs against good opponents. I will take the advice of flanking with Etahn. In my more successful games I typically flanked with the Z because no one really cares about a Z. Etahn will force them to make a choice. That's a good thing.
Side note. How the heck do you take down a rebel swarm? So many shields (the real problem with taking a non swarm Etahn list). So many guns. Ugh.
Edited by Nickotine42Been running Etahn with PtL and R2 together with 3 Rookies. Went 100-0 against a 4 rebel List. Also wiped a three-ship elite rebel build and only lost Etahn. Also went up against HSF with a really pimped out Han. He had Predator, Luke Skywalker, C3PO, Falcon and 3 Z95s. Etahn made short work of the Z95s while the X-wings went down 1 by 1. Ended up loosing the game, only managed to kill the Z95s and deal 1 Damage to Han's hull, since after the X-wings were gone he just flew around taking evade and using C3PO for 2 guaranteed evades each round against Etahns 3 attack dice. =/
Had I managed to reach range 1 on Han the first or second round of fire it would probably have ended up better, but 3 ships in a meatwall takes up some space. ![]()
