I just joined an epic play league and need to get my one and only list in ASAFP.

After getting used to counting calories on 100pt lists, what would you do with 300pts?

Ship type capped at 12 for small base and 5 for large base.

I'd run, like, six Royal Guard TIEs with PtL and Stealth Device.

Add a bomber wing, Capt Jonus + Proton Bomb, 2x Gamma Sqd + Assault Missile + Adv. Proton Torp + Seismic Charge

And a support guy, Colonel Jendon + ST-321 + Engine Upgrade + Heavy Laser Cannon + Tactician

300 points! (I have no idea if this would be good)

150ish on a Corvette. Blinged out Falcon, Wedge and a couple of Y-Wings! Sorted!

If my area wanted to do an Escalation league I would so try to run Delta Delta and just add a Delta every round, of course by the end of the tournament I'll be in tears after rolling 20 blanks in a row on evade dice.

The real question is should I be scooping up a Decimator on E-Bay for the shock value before the league starts?

Jendon in the ST-321 with a squadron of Bombers with ordinance is a good way to wreck a huge ship quick. 0 Agility does not last long against Advanced Torps with a TL and Focus.

Also, skip high point, low HP ships because there is no hiding in a 300 point game. Use basic TIEs to go after escorts and bombers with ordinance to kill huge ships.

The real question is should I be scooping up a Decimator on E-Bay for the shock value before the league starts?

I would say probably not when you are talking double MSRP (close to triple what you can get from a discount store) I would caution holding off and saving your money the 40+ you save could be a tank of gas, taking the family to the movies (or a nice date with a GF if you aren't quite that far into the family process), or more likely a second VT-49/Outrider/Rebel Aces or even go into the "Armada Fund" (if you like the way that game looks)
