Becoming a Sith?

By SCYLINEgamer, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

About 6-8 weeks in to our most recent story arc, while on the planet Illum, my character (Dominic Ramor) discovered a crystal that only glowed for him (and not the rest of the crew) and showed him visions. Basically he discovered his Force powers. Now, since that occurrence I've been anxious to develop my powers and grow stronger to the best of my ability.

After a few more sessions, we will switch GM's within the group. The switch between the two will involve a year-long time skip. My question is, within that year, how difficult and dangerous would it be to come into contact with and train with a Sith in order to advance my powers?

A couple extra details: My character, within two sessions, came into contact with a Force sensitive spirit that watches over him, and via her, visited the minds of the rest of the group's characters. While infiltrating a building on Moriband, a spirit or Force being drew me towards THE Darth Revan's mask in an evidence room with a Sith Inquisitor in it.I stole it. He has meditated for a month in some Sith tombs on Korriban. Point is, I've had strong contact with the Force, both Light and Dark side.

What do you think? Within that year-long time skip, do you think I could get anywhere close to becoming a Sith? Would my character die in the process?

When it is released, get a copy of the Force and Destiny beta book. It will have everything you need to being Dark Side and a whole slew of force powers, careers, specializations, and items.

Also, take a look at the Beta forum. Lots of people putting their 2 cents on that board.

If by Sith you mean a fully trained Sith Lord, then one year is likely not long enough. Palpatine trained for about a decade (or was it two decades) before Plagueis considered him a worthy apprentice, and Maul trained from childhood.

PCs can sometimes be allowed the miracle speed training montage, by I still think one year is too little time. It is enough time to learn the basics and be able to call yourself a Sith Apprentice (about on par with Luke after training on Dagobah).
