They won't. The FaD beta - ie. a glimpse of what will be the last of the three core games - is here, and this is what you get. For all your foot-stamping and belly aching, you won't be getting a game where you can pull Star Destroyers from the sky and use it to *****-slap the first person who gives you a dirty look. So accept it, or GTFO.

Perhaps not a star destroyer (Sil 6+), but definitely a freighter is doable. (There are 4 Move Strength Bonuses, thus Sil 4 objects, which are light freighters. And that's before they go adding signature abilities.)

Idk but maybe this sounds crazy maybe FGG should add a universal Force Sensitive SPEC that adds the reflect/parry and the improve/supreme versions of reflect/parry and a couple of force rating talents and pepper in some other talents add the skill lightsaber and blah blah whatever else that way those ppl would have their "somewhat Jedi" will i guess have it it seems by the movies all u need is some force rating talents and the reflect/parry talents and bam instant jedi just add sith and u have your jedi recipe lol

All of this said I do actually feel a little underwhelmed by the careers, a lot of the abilities are good, but you need to pair them with force powers and it gets expensive real quick. Not that I want that to be changed in any way other than maybe giving some of the specialisations a 10% bump (nothing more, it really is just a little underwhelmed). Also I think we need to get away from the MMO way of thinking that combat balance is the be all and end all of balance.

on post #59 Ghostofoman builds Episode 1 Obi-Wan with just 150 xp. It's a very nice build that fits all which is seen on screen, mind you it ignores all the fluff though. I think you can also easily tweak it to suit a force-spec centered padawan (Obi-Wan is more ligthsaber centered).

As an alternative in the same thread at post #9 Ghost also made a decent padwan with a well developed man spec, a bit of a secondary spec, raise some skills to two and get 3 basic force powers again all for 150 xp, his exmaple was a Sentinel: shadow/Shien expert. That builds trades having many different talents with only basic force powers.

I've even built a Marauder/Doctor (in RAW, both specs in character creation w/no bonus xp) and found it plenty powerful and enjoyable.

That's my point, they are potent. Perhaps too potent, as many here have claimed (I've only kitbashed the numbers, I haven't seen one in play).

I'd be interested to see some testing with them. Looking at them, it does seem like a potent combination, but I suspect they might not be quite as bad as some people seem to think. People have to keep in mind that the Pressure Point talent does not function with any kind of weapon equipped. And then there is also the fact it only works against living targets. If you run into some kind of big nasty droid you might be in some trouble.

Yes I agree our group feels overwhelmed when trying to make a "somewhat padawn" type character one of our groups was like **** you need a gazillion exp just to make episode 1 Obi Wan lol I love the game a lot and I understand your not the old republic jedi but darn it it's very expensive to come even close to make a decent padawn type

Do remember that Episode 1 Obi-wan becomes a Jedi Knight at the end of the movie... He is no where near a 'starting' Padawan at any point of the film, he's on the cusp of Knighthood.

Yet it is possible to build a charcter which does all of what Obi-Wan does on screen with 150 points. It loooks like knight-level play was well thought as far as xp points. I would suggest you give it a try, your player will not be disappointed.

The best thing about letting people play Jedi Knights?

That you can wipe them out all over again. Every single one of them. Obliterate and annihilate!

When it comes to Jedi in this particular setting it reminds me a bit of the Jedi Knight video games. When you started those games you could maybe pull a blaster out of a storm troopers hands and your force lightning wasn't really worth it compared to a gun. A mercenary with a flechette launcher or disruptor rifle destroyed you pretty darn quick even at higher levels if you weren't careful. Sure, at high levels (the last third or so of the game) you were tossing around squads of soldiers and electrifying everything but it was built up over time. It is a game where you are discovering a power thought to be extinct, the fact that you can make a glass tremble is amazing and you're already beyond that.

It's a bit like an adult suddenly deciding that they should be an expert in kendo or particle physics, it is definitely something you can do, but you aren't going to master it in a year.

Or look at some of the Old Republic games. There are distinct "Jedi Hunters" out there who through training and equipment made their living finding and killing force-users. A well prepared bounty hunter holds their own against anything, and the bounty hunters in these games are always prepared.

According to Maelora, this could be a 14 year study. Maybe to save time and un-hijack the thread (like I do way too often!), let's just say that after sassy comes knight then master!

I think the jedi in the movies do raise our expectations. But if you think about it to wield the higher power levels well. You probably need a bit of training wheel time to work out your powers.
