Quick Rexler clarification

By majikforce, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Rexler deals 3 hits to a YT-1300. Uses a focus to flip them over. One is minor explosion. YT-1300 rolls and receives another hit. Does that card also get flipped over? Thanks!

No.

Rexler's ability is done when he flips over the damage cards he's directly responsible for dealing. If a Minor Explosion causes another card to be dealt it is coming from there instead of from Rexler.

According to an email from Frank, this is wrong. Pending a change in the FAQ, It would flip the additional card. I'll see if I can find the email someone posted.

The situation being described here is slightly different. In the example used with Frank, Rexler hands out a Minor Explosion normally (ie. the enemy ship takes the crit, which turns out to be ME). Then Rex's ability flips both cards back over.

In the OP's scenario, Rexler uses his ability to flip over the Minor Explosion that was dealt face-down originally, which then hands out another card. That extra card does not get flipped, as Rexler's ability has already been used.

From the FAQ:

Rexler Brath must choose to use his pilot ability after resolving any faceup damage cards dealt by his attack.

Any faceup damage cards that have been resolved and flipped facedown and any additional Damage cards dealt by the Minor Explosion Damage cards are also flipped faceup when Rexler Brath uses his ability.

Rexler Brath may only use his pilot ability once per attack.

Oh oh oh, you're right, sorry my bad - I misread the scenario. Thanks Dr4co!
