Best Battlefoam Bag/Inserts for my force

By ArcaneSpringbrd, in X-Wing

Okay, I think I'm getting pretty close to finishing off my X-Wing force. I've pretty much got all the models I want, and they're finally starting to expand beyond my Sabol bag.

So I'm looking at options from Battlefoam. From what I can tell, for the most part it's the custom inserts that I'd probably be using, but I'm not exactly sure how _big_ of a bag I should get.

Here's what I have or plan on getting:

Rebels

3 X-Wings

1 Y-Wing (maybe 2)

2 B-Wings

2 A-Wings

1 E-Wing

1 HWK

Millenium Falcon

Rebel Transport

Tantive IV

Imperials

5 TIE Fighters

1 TIE Advanced

4 TIE Interceptors

1 TIE Bomber

1 TIE Phantom

Slave-1

Lambda

Any suggestions on what I should be looking for or think about?

Get more ships....I'd consider a Plano 1374 unless you really have your heart set on BF Plano is cheaper and much more customizable, if you cut the calm shell the ships won't even move even the large bases fit and epic ships fit up to.

All of that should fit in a 432 vertical. Don't buy their precut tray loadout one, design your own trays to maximize your space, and for what you own.

Where would the Transport and Tantive IV fit in there? In the clamshell?

It would seem to me that there'd be breakage wouldn't it?

It comes with a large bulk storage up top its where I keep my epic ships. (cant post pic)

the clamshelled transport fits no prob, and I cut down some of the Tantive so it could fit in the shell

I second this. Their cutouts are really inefficient. A lot more can be done with less foam and simple square cuts in many cases. I prefer to just use pick and pluck sheets to their custom jobs.

also many ships like Ys can be double and triple stacked....

I ended up buying the Shield Bag from Battlefoam when they had their sale 2 months ago. It was Custom Foam and came out to $75 after shipping.

I have the following in my collection:

Imperial:

8 Tie Fighters

2 Tie Advanced

6 Tie Interceptors

2 Firesprays

3 Shuttles

5 Bombers

3 Phantoms

3 Defenders

Rebel:

5 X-Wings

3 Y-Wings

4 A-Wings

2 Falcons

2 B-Wings

2 Hwks

7 Z95s

2 E-Wings

I got 3 custom trays and 1 pluck foam, all are 2 inches thick. When desigining the trays I didn't put much thought in the 2" depth. Turns out I could have fit all my ships in 2 custom trays (you can easily stack 3 Z95s or Y-Wings in one slot) and had 2 pluck foam trays.

I just ordered a Mantic sized bag, which has smaller trays, and it hasn't arrived yet. I think a Pack 216 bag is usually enough for most people, and that's what my Brother will be getting. You can get a Pack Plus bag for expansion in the future as well.

Back in Wave 2, I bought a 432 with pluck foams along with the wave 1-2 x-wing trays. I don't put epic ships in it, but I have my folded hotmatz playmat, all my fighters with wave 3 and 4 in a pluck foam tray with plenty of space left for wave 5 and 6. So if I would order a bag now, I would make sure to grab Pluck foam trays to be future proof.
