Talisman The Dragon Solo

By John Steed 1, in Talisman

The Dragon expansion is probably the most conducive Talisman variation for solo play if you use the Dragon Tower inner region. Choose one character, get a counter and give yourself 50, 75, or 100 turns (depending on difficulty level you wish) and play the way you normally would.

If you break through the portal of power within your allotted turns, you get to scale the tower and try to defeat the dragon king. If you run out of turns before you get to the inner region or lose all lives anywhere along the way, you lose.

Its been a couple of years, but Velhart, who used to post here quite a bit (and I miss him - - wherever did he go?)

always spoke of playing solo games with any/all components. Especially when a new expansion came out, he sure liked to 'test' it.

Having said that, I've thought that if I can't get my wife to play more often, I may have to go this route too.

I have the same problem. lol. My gaming friends live 30 miles away, so I can't get there often, so I devise solo ways to play my games. LOL

Why don't you try playing Talisman: Digital Edition on Steam, android or Ipad? Lots of people play it because they don't have friends nearby!

I have Talisman Prologue for my Android, and play that a lot. I like the different quests you can go on. That said, I'm not really one to sit in front of a computer and play games. When I finally upgrade my ancient I-Pad I will likely buy it for that. I also prefer the board games rather than computer games, even though the computer versions do all the setting up for you. I'm old school that way. :D

I've been asked about going digital too, by Granville, which was nice that cared to listen to my whiney rant on that.

But I have various problems with being in that format. Call me an a paranoid old hippie from the '70s but I want nothing to do with smartphones and the like.

I work in a library, so I have online all day - why do you think I'm almost always here answering, commenting, seemingly before most others? Of course I have wireless at home so I can be on as much as I wish. That's enough for me. I want my cell phone to just be a cell, thanks.

Additionally, I have 2.5 hour commute to work - there and back, so I'm somewhat tired and more likely to relax, go work out etc.

and additionaly, point 2, I do a bit of volunteer work for several concerns, so sometimes I just have no extra time (or brain cells)

But I do all right for a nearly 59 year old guy. Just need a strategy to get my wife to play more, heheheheh.

Play it on your PC on Steam at home when you have some spare time (which sounds like not that much)!
