Scum and Villainy Most Wanted Expantion Question

By rabarno, in X-Wing

Most players won't be competing in tournaments, though, and in a casual setting a Rebel dial should serve just fine.

I really doubt 5+ Z-95s will be common in a tournament setting given the other ships Scum have to play with. People will want to put the new hotness on the table.

I don't see much reason for the Z-95 to get 3 dials to the Y-Wing's 1 when a vanilla Y-Wing isn't even twice as expensive as the Z-95. Ideally, this set will make turretless Y-Wings actually viable.

It's a conversion kit to let you use Scum and Villainy, not a set of rebel ships. They are being nice by giving us double Y-wings and all people are doing is complaining they aren't getting enough stuff.

It's not really double Y wings. If you dont have the dials/tiles to fly two of them together in a squad its just another ship for a different faction.

Has there been any official word from FFG about the S&V dials not being able to be fielded by their Rebel/Imperial counterparts and vice versa? Obviously the tiles wouldnt be re-used, but the dials will likely be the same ship to ship.

You forgot to include the tiles shown on the model ships. I guess an additional Y-wing dial won't hurt. So in order to get the most out of the most wanted pack you will need besides the MW pack a Y-wing pack a HWK pack and a Slave 1 pack.

I have every intention of using my Rebel dials in casual play, which is almost all of what I play anyways. As for the griping, it's hardly unusual here. You guys want FFG to give you the perfect mix of stuff? At least they're not GW, who gives the exact wrong number of everything, always, often without the necessary parts. Want Eldar Storm Guardians? Pay $50 to give your $50 Guardians swords!

I have no real problems with Most Wanted and will buy one. Not two. I will also get a StarViper or two, a HWK because I don't have one yet, and maybe a Scyk or two if I feel it fills a role my (4) Z95s don't.

So it seems it still not clear to some, there will in fact be 4 z95 2-sided tiles in the pack they will look like this:

PS1 Generic/PS7 Unique x 2

PS3 Generic/PS5 Unique x 2

You need to look closer, there are in fact only 3 base tiles in the picture for the Z-95. One on each of the ships, and one in the pile in the lower left. Likewise there are 3 Y-Wing tiles, one on the actual model, and 2 in the pile.

This would work:

PS 1 Generic/PS 7 Unique

PS 3 Generic/PS 5 Unique

PS 1 Generic/PS 3 Generic

Three tiles, covers all the options for two ships. This kit already has a TON of cardboard in it. Why would they want to add more?

Maybe future (next prints) single Z-95, Y-W, Hwk and FireSprays will come with both faction dials, cards and counters. Maybe, they will separate miniature and cards altogether.

I am really hoping for some title or modification or turret or some such in this set that can be applied to Rebel Y-wings as well. The Y-Wing is great with an Ion Cannon, but pretty lacklustre otherwise. That should be redressed.

I sense a whole lot of "I lost/My dog ate my [insert desired dial here]" support tickets to FFG.

Yeah I'm afraid of this and people that it genuinely did affect might be screwed either by a more ardent screening process or people will just actively scam FFG and take advantage of a company with excellent customer service

Great analysis! This has me hopeful. A laser turret and double-tapping with a locked turret would be wonderful.

It might be that moving forward FFG is planning on either:

1) providing both Rebel and S&V dials in the expansion packs for Z-95s and Y-Wings

or

2) having faction specific Expansions and doubling the SKU's for Z-95 and Y-Wings

The only thing this would really hurt are players that bought a lot of the ships early and are now looking at buying a lot more of hte ships for S&V, and frankly, speaking as a member of said group, we aren't being "robbed" of anything (as we purchased the rebel versions to play rebels not because we planned on playing an additional faction),

Why are people griping so much about needing to buy 2 to get a second firespray, how often do people run two firesprays now? (albeit these new ones could be better for tandem running) We have Scyks and StarVipers if all you want is to use Firesprays you might as well have just stuck to what we got now.

As some one mentioned be thrilled that the conversion is in there at all rather than having to buy 2 new Firesprays(A Kath or Krassis[Heck even a Jango version, even though it was from the prequel it still looks awesome] repaint would have been cool though since we already have a Boba version) for the Dials/Cardboard on top of the Most Wanted set (80<100 as far as I remember)

Just cover it with a sticker.

I've been running a very successful dual firespray build lately with boba and kath. Since the scum boba's ability is much better i was considering switching the build to the scum faction, but if it means I have to buy two Most Wanted kits to do it, forget it.

Like I said though it is still cheaper to buy 2 Most Wanted sets to get the FIrespray Dials than it would have been if the Firespray was a Stand alone repaint (assuming you would have bought 1 Most Wanted for the Z-95s and Y-wings anyways)

It's funny how perception of the shape of a plastic ship changes things.

I bought 4 Z-95's to go in my rebel fleet, and then Scum is announced, and there's more Z-95's but they are totally different new pilots new paint job, probably new upgrade configuration, i mean they are mostly a new ship, but because they are the same shape it's all "Hey how come I have to buy more of these!" If it was a different model it would be "I'm buying 8 of these!"

I think the only legitimate, (and main) gripe is really that you might have to buy 2 boxes of most wanted to get to use 2 Firesprays. If someone already owns 2 firesprays and a Y-wing they may well have all the ships they need to run a scum list yet they need to pay $80 (MSRP) to get a tournament legal build, it's a little off but it's not a scam or anything, it was the best way to get scum up to having a decent number of ships in their faction, I can only assume that once you see what the new Z's are like you will want 4 or more, and as for the Y-wing .... I recon someone will want to buy them from e-bay.

I'll confess to being tempted to buy another 4 Y-Wings just for the new paint jobs.

I'm sure eBay will be flooded with people selling off spares/extras once Most Wanted is released. And there's nothing stopping people using the trade thread on this forum to, say, switch a HWK dial for a Z95, or a Firespray for a Y-Wing if they wanted to...

may have been asked but didn't want to weed through all the posts... are the dials the same? was wondering as they may be different reflecting on the generally inferior maintenance and age of the ships that the scum have?? or they might go the other way reflecting the disregard of safety parameters?? think it would be cool if they were different!!!

Hmm that makes Most Wanted a lot less appealing to me now. I only own 1 z-95 and 1 y-wing, thought this would let me field more than one for both sides, but I guess not. Very dissapointed.

Well when you think about it selling a pack that gives the Rebels more ships is not exactly fair to the Imperial players. They wanted to make a 3rd faction that can use some of the "contracted" ships (such as Boba Fets Firespray). The MW pack is not a starter set as in order to use it you will still need the core set to play and you will need at least one HWK-290 and one Slave-1 expansion (and if 2 Y-wing dials) and 1 Y-wing in order to make the most out of it.

Besides it makes sense that Old republic stuff like Headhunters an Y-wing will be used by pirates and mercenaries. I think they got the idea from X-wing vs Tie fighters where some of the first missions you flew were against 3rd faction pirates that flew Headhunters and Y-wings. Yet still it does have its faction specific ships such as IG-2000 and the MA-3 Scyk.

No one needs to get a second Firespray, (I'm not getting one), however to get a second Firescum or Scumhawk in an S&V Squadron you will need to get both the Slave 1 and/or HWK-290 expansion pack and an additional MW pack as there is only 1 dial for HWK-290 and 1 dial for Firespray-41.

Looking at the MW picture this is what I see.

  • 2 Z-95 Headhunter miniatures (alt paint)
  • 1 Y-Wing miniature (alt paint)
  • 6 Z-95 S&V faction pilot cards
  • 6 Y-Wing S&V faction pilot cards
  • 4 HWK-290 S&V faction pilot cards
  • 4 Firespray-41 S&V pilot cards
  • 2 S&V Z-95 Headhunter maneuver dials
  • 2 S&V Y-Wing maneuver dials
  • 1 S&V HWK-290 maneuver dial
  • 1 S&V Firespray-41 maneuver dial
  • 3 S&V Z-95 Headhunter tiles
  • 3 S&V Y-wing tiles
  • 2 S&V HWK-290 tiles
  • 2 S&V Firespray-41 tiles
  • 19 upgrade cards
  • assorted tokens for game

Hmmm. So Scum & Villany will have two more Z-95 pilots and two more Y-Wing pilots than the Rebels? Interesting..

Not necessarily, looking at the picture and the pilot skills for the Y-wing I see 2 PS 2 (with identical pictures) 2 PS 4 (also with identical pictures) a PS 5 and a PS 7. Similar for the Z-95 Headhunters only their PS are two with 1 (again identical picture) two with 3 (ditto) and a 5 and a 7.

Here take a look for yourself.

Multiple generics, of course, makes sense!

Yeah but taking a close look at the Firespray unless the Generic is PS 5 (Which has been done before) it looks like there will be no generic S&V Firespray. Bounty Hunters appears to be Imperial only.

hmm

The generic looks PS5 starting with Manda, so I guess Mandalorian.

Z-95's have always seemed unaligned to me, due to the TIE fighter computer game. So I am happy to see them in a more independent faction :-)

A possibility for the Firespray-41. As for the Headhunters yeah I remember them as pirate ships in the X-wing/Tie Fighter game too. They were easy to take down.
