So does anyone have experience with FLGS Leagues? Is there a weekly cost? What is the end prize? Or worth? How financially beneficial is it for the FLGS?
Just wondering ...

I compete in a weekly league. First week we pay $5 for the month, we have 8-16 players who come and go. Last week of each month we get a tournament kit, and choose prizes based on rankings. We occasionally do Furball games to shake it up, with bonus league points available. We have played a campaign that also counted for league points. And if there is a major tournament coming, IE Store Champ or Regionals, we apply more rules to make it more like a competitive setting. Really just depends on what players want to do.
Basically works like this:
First two games per week count. If you miss a game, you can add a third game. No time limits, and you can change your list all you want. Playing a game gives you 1 point, winning gives you an extra point. In a Furball, everyone gets a point, winning side gets an extra, and we each have a secret "bounty." You get a third point if you destroy your bounty.
Nice and simple, mostly casual. Keeps it fun and everyone gets something at the end of the month.
Edited by Engine25Thanks. I take it from the silence that maybe not many FLGS run Leagues?
I might start a league at my FLGS next month. $5 gets you in, you can play as many games as you want during the month, there'll be a nice prize for the three highest-ranked players at the end of each month, and little prizes for everybody else.
To determine a player's ranking, i was thinking about using their total margins of victory, averaging it out, and then adding 10 for each game played. I'll have to experiment a little bit to figure out a good per-game bonus. I don't want to unfairly punish players who can't show up very often, but I don't want to let someone show up once and have a blowout game and then get top ranking.
I'm running a league in my FLGS (its actually two stores (same chain) 20 minutes by train apart) and all participants pay about $7 to participate.
The prices are from two of FFG's Game Kits.
First we play a league and prizes are won on the final standings. Then we play a championship elimination round based on the league standings with prizes at the end of the elimination bracket as well.
Everyone gets at least two alternate art cards for participation (one from the league and one from the Championship bracket).
