Barnes and Noble practically never has ships out of stock.

Yet I see pretty much nobody around here using them as their x-wing dealer of choice. A few weeks ago a friend of mine was lamenting the falcon shortage, and I told him to hit a Barnes and Noble.

He went home happy.

Hell, my FLGS hasn't carried wave 4, AT ALL. I literally had to walk in one day with a Barnes and Noble bag to get my e-wing on.

B&N is my primary source for ships (the FLGS near me that supports the game isn't very L - about 45 minutes away), but their selection is inconsistent. Mine sold out of Wave 4 pretty quickly, but they still have some of the Wave 1 reprints and all the large ships and an Aces box (I'd get that, but I have 5 squints already and can't imagine needing more).

Yeah, i mean thats cool. I *sometimes* get stuff off ebay (who also tend to always have everything in stock) but only when my local store know they wont have a restock for months.

Generally though i prefer to support the store in town, i stay loyal, they do me a decent discount.

Can't argue with that :)

You might not have the same problem your way but i live in an outskirts town of a UK city where high street shops struggle to stay in business. It's sort of in *my* interest to patronise (in the real sense of the word) that store as if they go bust then i cant just pop in for a game, or browse stuff in person i pretty much either have to buy 'blind' off the internet or I can tracel into the city to another store that probably has the same restock issue.

As quality control varies on the paint jobs (heard of shuttles with finger prints going out) it was reassuring to be able to look at four or so boxs with tantives in and be sure the one i bought had no bendy guns or wonky paint job.

But yeah i dont quite get the 'this is not in stock' threads as *everything* is on uk ebay at reasonable rates, surely its the same in the US

I use Amazon mostly... but if I am really jones-in for a ship I will usually hit up Barnes and Noble. On a side note... the gaming store in my area; they mostly deal in MTG and such charges $17.00 per ship....... which I find ridiculous lol just thought I would mention that.

Sounds like your local store charge UK prices then!

You just see so many people can't get it on MM and so they go "whelp it literally doesn't exist until more are made" and anybody with half as much time invested in this game as me can just call a B&N and ask if they have stuff in stock

B&N is where I found A wings and Interceptors right after they were released, and couldn't find them anywhere else for less than 40 bucks.

I picked up a Falcon from a local B&N on Monday. They had 2 more in stock.

B&N also has a great reservation system - you can easily reserve it on their website for pickup, and they'll hold it for you, pay at register. I used this, got an email within half an hour saying it was set aside, and quickly dropped in on my way home from work to pick it up and pay for it.

One big problem with B&N's website is that they allow 3rd party sellers (who are jacking the price up since B&N is sold out online), and they don't directly reflect the store price, and they only mention it may be available in store AFTER they mention available from other merchants. You have to specifically chose 'Pick Up in a Store Near You' to see that it is available.

6 out of 7 Barnes and Noble stores near me show Falcons as being in-stock.
