I think the thing that many people don't get is that S&V is filled with the worst of the worst. Assassins, bounty hunters, Black Sun; Han is just a rogue in his own regard. He might smuggle but he is a good guy at heart. The guys in S&V are not.
Edited by GodlessMimicrySo I pre-ordered Scum and Villainy - Why no Han Solo?

Exactly. That's why he waited for Greedo to shoot before he defended himself. ![]()
I mean who here is going to call Obi-Wan a liar? Using the Venn Diagram of Scum and Villainy there are 2 circles of in Mos Eisley and not in Mos Eisley. Han was in Mos Eisley.
I guess from a certain point of view I can see what your saying but I would call Obi-Wan a frequent liar.
The problem is, even when he's an active smuggler he's always deep down a good guy. I think Scum & Villainy is aimed more at hardened criminals and amoral characters.
Cos he's a rebel yo!
I personally never saw Han as a rebel. The whole reason he hung around was for some tail.

Obi-wan was a hippie. Living all out in the desert growing veggies and high on spice.
Smuggler faction is coming. It will probably be a year plus or so out, but its coming.
Han, Chewey, Lando, Dash, Kyle, Jan, etc. etc. A ton of pilots and ships to re-purpose and provide the foundation for a new faction quick.
Its happening. Ya'll might as well start girding your loins, put your big girl panties on and join the party.
I for one am really excited. Totally love this game.
So excited for scum. Gonna buy and fly the crap out of it.

Definitely.
The fact that S&V contains Boba Fett and Prince Xizor, both the arch nemesis of Han Solo and Dash Rendar, respectively, pretty much ensures that at least those two characters and their ships will remain outside the faction. It seems almost obvious that the Falcon and Outrider will be heading up a Smugglers and Spies faction later in the game's life.
I definitely think they should include the YT-1300 in the new faction, but not Han. He's just too much of a good guy, really.
I also hope the Azzameens get the Rebel treatment...I don''t want the Andrasta (that Firespray title) to be limited to scum.
Not sure on this whole smugglers faction. Smugglers by their very nature are going to be trying to stay out of such heated conflicts, not going into battle with their ships. It is even said in the movie that Han immediately bailed when he saw an Imperial cruiser. They also aren't going to fly en masse much. So I wouldn't see much hope for a smuggler faction.
You think Solo should be in a faction with BOBA FETT'S SYMBOL as its icon, eh?
Or worse, flying along side Boba Fett.
I suppose it's possible, Boba teams up with Luke & crew briefly in the holiday special while secretly working for the Empire, but to see Han and Fett side by side with any frequency in games would feel a bit off.
I just knew someone would mention the Holiday Special

I disagree.... I mean if it happens then that's great, I have nothing against it, the more factions the merrier in my eyes. The reason I disagree is that all of the characters you've listed here are already rebels. I mean for S&V, we know some of the characters are repeats but a majority of them are new and wouldn't really fit in thematically with Rebels or Empire. In the case of Smugglers, pretty much every smuggler works for the rebellion if not all the time, then at least a majority of the time. I don't know how many more characters they can really pull that wouldn't also fit with the Rebels. If I'm wrong I'm wrong, but that's just how I look at it.
Side note, super excited for S&V, and actually most excited for a character I've never been that big on... IG-88.
Also bombs and astromechs. Sure, there's differences in PS and abilities (though what expansion didn't do that?), but we're still seeing a lot of the stuff previously faction unique stuff lifted over to the Scum and Villainy side, and I think that we should be careful there isn't too much lifted to them.
Astromechs look like they'll remain exclusively a Rebel upgrade. The S&V faction is getting a new icon - Salvaged Astromechs. So from the article, it looks like there will be no sharing of Astromechs (which, IMO, is a good thing and FFG picked a good solution to keep R2-D2 from appearing on S&V ships).
Jim
ugh, who wants to see a tramp freighter faction. All large ships and turrets seems pretty boring to me.
With the announcement of S&V faction I wish they would have finally admitted that Boba Fett and his ship should never have been included with the Imperials. He wasn't an Imperial and there shouldn't be fleets of a unique ship flying for a faction.
Maybe we'll see a 4th faction: Smuggler's and Spies
He wasn't an Imperial and there shouldn't be fleets of a unique ship flying for a faction.
The Firespray was no more unique then the YT-1300 was. It may not of been as common, but it was far from unique.
I'm neither in surprised or I satisfied with the 'new' faction. I am disappointed that they polarised it so.
I would have been more excited over the third faction to be more grey. If the Rebels are good, and the imperials are bad, then the middle ground is grey.
Those on the shadier side work with whomsoever will assist them in that moment. With the release, I hope part of the new rules kit will elaborate that they are able to work with either side. This will allow for mercenaries also (hopefully some mandalorians).
I disagree that they polarized it the way you think. Who says the Rebels are good, Imperials are bad?
The Rebels didn't think they were Rebels, they thought they were an Alliance. The Imperials called them the Rebel Alliance but among themselves it was the Alliance to Restore the Republic (aka the Alliance to Restore Freedom to the Galaxy).
To the Imperials, on the other hand, they were a bunch of terrorists fighting against the established order.
For that matter, NOBODY said the S&V faction (which, again, is probably what others have dubbed them, although they might wear the Scum label with some pride) was a grey poised between two black and white polar opposites of good and evil. In case you didn't notice, it's full of bounty hunters, criminals (crime lords, even), assassins, and so on. They'll work for the highest bidder, have no scruples, and it makes perfect sense they'd by and large butt heads with both major political factions (when they're not taking jobs from them under the table).
You think the Empire is worse than Scum & Villainy? The difference between them is that if the Mercs had a Death Star they would have demanded a ransom from Alderaan before blowing it up to make a point to the next planet they tried to shake down. ![]()

Really? Did they change that? I remembered them being prototypes but never made production models.
"She's a Firespray Pursuit Special…one of six prototypes manufactured for the prison. She's the last of her kind now." after "acquiring" Slave I —
On the YT-1300, it may have been common but one with the stats of the Han/Lando/Chewie ones aren't.
Yes I know Han Solo eventually becomes the good guy,
GOOD guy?! He joins a band of interstellar terrorists, helps destroy a space station holding tens of thousands of troops and civillians... AND then ends up doing it again!
I think he was much more of a "good" guy back when he was smuggling spice.

Yeah in the latter EU the Firespray started getting mass produced.
Yeah, but I'm sure they were never Imperial issue. Since the three named Imperial Firespray pilots are a bounty hunter, pirate, and slaver I always found it strange they were flying for the Imperials in this game.
Of course the YT-1300 and HWK-290 aren't exactly standard Rebel issue either.

not to mention exterminating a species as part of the collateral damage from the 2nd time he murdered 1000s of Imperial soldiers and technicians...

Last I read, the Firespray was in prototype production. Then Jengo went ahead and sabotaged all the other prototypes and the factory producing them after acquiring his own. The Empire didn't want the ship for some reason or another so mass production never happened. There are bits here and there about other Mandalorians flying Firesprays but, in general, it has always been a "Holy crap, is that one of those Firesprays my grandfather told me war stories about?" moment when someone comes across one in the EU - it's just that rare.

Yep, and then at some point in the EU they started getting mass produced again.
