Just noticed this on the side of my shopping bag from the FFG booth at GenCon:

Subtle jab at some other game companies with over-powered/game-changing exclusives? Or just coincidence?

Very well could be a subtle jab at some other gaming companies and the way they do things.
All FFG games seem to be pretty gamer friendly really, core sets and expansions having everything you need to use that ship/cards/whatever. No con exclusive items. Avoiding powercreap, and ect...
It's basically just stating the difference between the LCG format and the usual MTG-style blind random pack sales with varying card rarity. A difference that is quite worth pointing out as a marketing technique, since it is desirable to many people.
It means you'll be spending all your money on the game, so you won't have any money in your Chase Bank account.

I have a feeling that this is what is meant. With the current backlash against certain particular competing game companies being so loud, I guess my mind went that way with it.
Still fits, though.
Needless to say for the most part FFG really has their sh*t together and I have no problem forking over cash for the goods... Its when companies make decisions that fly in the direct face of their player base, to increase market share that pisses me off and hopefully FFG will avoid those pitfalls; they have done a great job of that so far IMO.
I could be wrong, but I think this has been their motto for LCGs since the very beginning.
I can't find its use in an original article, but did google up one reference to the term from a mid-2013 discussion over on a Magic forum.
So nothing really new here. Thinking WizKids and Attack Wing even deserve a jab from FFG gives them too much credit.

As far as I know, FFG came up with the LCG concept, and I think that was mostly because part of the founding concept of the company was to be more player friendly.
There's little question in my mind anyway, that the LCG is more friendly to the player then the random pack system MtG uses. That's something that has seemed to carry though to everything else they've done.

That makes sense. I've only recently gotten involved with any games from FFG.
