How about we set a challenge to some of those very clever and creative list builders and maths and stats gurus out there.

Put those skills you use to develop the most optimal builds to making balanced sub-optimal builds

So while everyone's waiting for the TIE Adv to become competitive again we can play it against lists that that have a similar number of shortcomings on their own side to balance things out.

Like for example if the TIE Adv is around 4 pts overcosted and Proton Torps are around 2 pts overcosted then the opposition has to build a 92 point squad then add two PTs

No doubt I'm oversimplifying it and someone will tell me - but you get my drift - TIE Adv especially with Vader, is great fun to field - it's just a bit expensive that's all

If it's about to become competitive it can't hurt to get it back on the table in the meantime and get to know how it flies again.

They would need to include this in a big box or something so the old ones still get sales though.

Well, there's nothing stopping you from putting it back on the table now. You can run it "vanilla" or with any of various possible fixes put into place; personally I'd run a couple of Tempests with a Scimitar and Jonus, and sprinkle various bits of ordnance over the list as you prefer. Alternately, you can always run something like Vader + Outmaneuver + Engine Upgrade, which is "just" 36 points and will definitely remind you of how the dial feels.

Finally, you could do something like Vessery/Howlrunner/Tempest/2x Academy; you can treat the Tempest just like a TIE Fighter, except that it picks up locks for Vessery to spend. It's not particularly efficient, since you could replace the Tempest with an Academy Pilot + Targeting Computer without really changing the way the list works, but again--if you're just out to re-familiarize yourself with the ship, there are worse choices you could make.

Possibly, but he really has one of the best abilities in the game. I'd rate it around top 3 at the worst. He's just stuck in an awful ship.

That's what I'm talking abiout - there's essentially nothing wrong with Vader expect the price - he's a scream to fly and a literal pain in your opponents arse.

In the current absence of a fix from FFG, a little sportsmanship from your playing circle is all that's required to re-balance him

Increase your primary weapon value to 4.

If you hit with an attack, the defender sustains three critical damage. Then cancel all dice results.

WHEN, and it will have TWO Tie fighters so that combined with a Core Set, it has a full complement of four!

I could see a Tie Advanced title that increases the power of the ship both with primary and secondary attacks, without just increasing the dice pool.

Title: When attacking the first critical hit rolled also adds a regular hit.

Quick math not including target lock.

Range 1 -- 33.01% chance to roll a critical.

Range 2 & 3 -- 23.44% chance to roll a critical.

Target Lock will increase these percents by a fair margin.

And this would add some pop to Maarek Stele.
