Hi all,

I'm Widis, I am very new to X-Wing, I just started playing in the evening with my wife and we love the game.

So I started browsing various forums including this one to look for strategies, information and to get the pulse on what is happening and ..... I must say am an speechless after reading several posts on the forum, this community seems absolutely great so much so that I am still wondering if the posts are real .

I am mainly a computer gamer, playing World of Warcraft since the beginning, many other games and other MMOs and just 3-4 years ago getting into "analog" games like boardgames and Magic: The Gathering or Warhammer and, ok, I know the digital gaming community has a lot of toxicity especially big communities like WoW but I was not expecting this.

I guess what I am trying to say is: I am truly impressed with you guys, this community rocks and I feel really great to maybe be a part of the X-Wing world.

Well that's a rare gem - a wife that plays X Wing! My misses just said "How pathetic is that?!" when she discovered me trying out new squad ideas by myself on the living room floor. Made me feel like Lord Helmet playing with his dolls...

Yes. This is me on a regular basis. My wife will play with me some of the time, but I play against my test squads quite often while suffering many strange looks from my wife.

I'm actually quite pleasantly surprised that you're not a bit taken aback by some of the vitriol. Maybe it's because we're at a slightly low ebb of it right now. Still, don't take the vitriol that you might see (I'm no angel either) with a grain of salt. It actually sometimes leads to productive understandings that sometimes get solved behind the scenes in the PMs.

Hm, I think I should start a thread titled X-Wing Wives, to pick up on the topic that's starting to emerge, rather than hijacking this one.

Girl: "What are these little symbols in the middle for?"

Guy: "Uh, they're the actions.. I don't think we need to worry about that right now"

Girl: "You started this, show me everything. I can handle myself."

That was also something I found very strange at first.... people posting things like "FFG we love you keep up the good work" is unheard of in other communities (yes Blizzard fans i'm looking at you ) ... so that was also impressive and good me really happy I got into x-wing
