I love the looks of all the mini repaints and mods done by fans and players of X-Wing. I'm adding to my wishlist Minis, made by FFG, that are reskined/repainted models.

I know S&V will have a couple of repaints, but I mean extreme. All those yummy, delicious modded YTs out there... I bet FFG can do the same thing! I'd love to use a model of the Ebon Hawk as a proxy mini for my YT-1300. We don't need prequal ships, per say. Maybe just the models flying with the same dials and pilots of similar ships? We mod and reskin our video games all the time, right?

As long as it's clear that My YT-1300 only looks like the Ebon Hawk and the stats and pilots and such didn't change, we should be good, yeah?

Wouldn't reskins and proxies be a good compromise? The people that want them can have them, sort of, and the people that don't want them don't feel the need to buy them because there's no new content.

Am I way off base here?

I doubt this will ever happen. Cards and cardboard are cheap, models are expensive. Making "proxy" models would cost FFG almost as much as making full models but they would have a much smaller potential market. So you can almost guarantee that if FFG spends the money to design and manufacture a new model they're going to invest a little more and give it rules.

I guess they could always pack it like an Aces-like package... Have new upgrades that rejuvinate older ships, but just have those ships reskinned?

I see no real reason to have YT specific rejuvinating upgrades at the moment, but you catch my drift. I'm sure there's a ship out there that's similar to, say, the TIE/A that could be packaged with all the fixes we've been asking for, no?

I was hoping for a Battle of Yavin with an updated Tie Fighter (more of the bluish grey that you see in wave 2 and after) and a Grey squadron Y-wing.

But to be honest paint is just paint. You can have Coran Horn and 2 Royal Guard Pilots with Aces and an Interceptor expansion. All you have to do is decide which card gets what paint job (and the number too.)

Great idea and would like to see and prequel era expansion with clone wars ships. What if they released UNPAINTED ships would the cost for them go down?
