Scum & Villainy favored too much?

By Hoosteen, in X-Wing

Facts:

(1) The first ships the Rebels and Imperials got were packaged in the same package, thus forcing players who wanted to focus on a single faction to buy one ship of the opposing faction. Imperials for two ships, and Rebels only got one. Scum & Villainy's "Wanted" set starts with THREE ships to start with!

Advantage: S&V.

(2) Wave 1 consisted of 2 ships each for Rebels/Imperials. Wave 2 came out MONTHS later, featuring only two more ships for each faction. Scum & Villainy's "second wave" will be three ships, in ADDITION to their already potent arsenal of the Firespray, HWK, Y-Wing, and Z-95.

This is SEVEN ships, scheduled to be released at the same time, as opposed to the two for the other factions.

Advantage: S&V.

(3) Both Rebels and Imperials had to wait for the next wave to receive large base ships. But, hey, Scum & Villainy gets a large ship IN THEIR FIRST WAVE!!!

Advantage: S&V.

(4) Rebels have Droids. Imperials have Cloaking. Scum & Villainy has "the illicit upgrade." What is it? What does it do? How does it work? I HAVE NO IDEA!

Advantage: S&V

tl;dr: The Scum&Villainy faction is obviously the only faction FFG cares about anymore.

It's only because its going to f'ing rock and be the best faction :).

The Most Wanted pack does not include the large ship. It only includes 3 small ships. If you want a HWK or Firespray you will have to get both the S&V starter and a HWK expansion along with a Slave 1 expansion. Those who have already been collecting will be able to make an S&V squadron from the start after picking up a Most Wanted Pack.

For newer players I will recommend you direct them to the core set and have them start with either Rebel or Imperial. It will be much easier to make a Rebel or Imperial Squadron than a S&V squadron from starting off the bat.

I would say it has alot to do with playing catch up to everyone else. They are still two ships behind I believe after wave 5. There is going to be a huge shake up in the way things are played with some of the upgrades coming out in wave 5 and with Scum and Villainy.

Over all. I think it's a good thing. It rewards the people who play both sides or at least bought both sides... :)

Just wait till my scum, Han shoots first with Boba list cleans your clock.

Totally favored

edit: Oh man you forgot SV get Signor's loop, like.. wtf!?

Though I had hoped that I wouldn't have to explain myself, this post was 100% joking. I am as excited (maybe more) then everyone else. :P

None of these are valid points. S&V is playing catch up, so obviously more stuff will be released at a time. The last point...they have a faction-specific upgrade, just like the other two do, and that makes them superior? Where's the logic in that?

Why are you so sure the Illicit upgrade is better than astromechs or cloaking?

And of course they got a ton of ships compared to the Rebels and Imperials, they're five waves behind.

It's a new version of Poe's Law, unfortunately: no matter how absurd the parody, someone has already made a more absurd claim about game balance in X-wing.

The way I see it the most wanted pack gives me a reason to add more custom firesprays to my collection!

For people who don't get the joke and legit think S&V have an edge:

S&V do not come in the core set. For a new player starting, they are already down 1 or 2 ships depending on if you compare them to the Empire or Rebellion

When S&V are released, they will have 7 ships. Imperials and Rebels will each have 9, since wave 5 comes before wave 6.

When you purchase the 'most wanted' you don't even have access to 2 of the types of ships that come with the cards (HWK and Firespray. You have to purchase ANOTHER PACK intended for ANOTHER FACTION just to get the full value of the initial purchase.

S&V will not have access to any ship that can fire 360 without purchasing an upgrade. The Rebels and Imperials will have 2 and 1

S&V will have 0 pilots with PS 9, while the others each have 2

Until they release a Scum & Villainy conversion kit for the YT (and even then, no guarantee of a Han S&V card) you can't do this.

Its a new faction. Absolutely nothing in the announcement article or FFG interviews has even remotely hinted that you can mix S&V with the other factions. And that would be a big enough deal that I'm pretty certain they have mentioned it if its allowed.

I am LOLing at the responders who are responding earnestly. Well played, OP.

TAKE MY MONEY! I think I will just start having a percentage of my paycheck sent directly to FFG so they can send me stuff. Kind of like a 401(k).

Of course scissors thinks it OP

You sure that's a 401(k) and not at 40K??

YUP!

I could not agree more. Ever since they announced the Z-95, I've dreamed of flying a couple of them next to Boba Fett and Kath Scarlet in a massive pirate attack force...

Sarcasm is a delegate art.

Patience young Padwan. Much to learn, yet you have.
