The TIE defender started as a Mary Ship and was rehabilitated into a fighter-bomber: they can be killed but they're fast, tough, hit hard and cost a fortune. Like the StarViper: it's the best money can buy but it's the same tech level as everything else.

The Basilisk (I cba to learn to spell its name in Traviss Language) never struck me as a Mary Ship but I haven't read Invincible (the Troy Denning book that has the Battle of Roche in it) in a while.

As for Beskar, sure the Mandalorians big it up but it's basically a worse version of Cortosis. It won't take a turbolaser blast.

The Bes'Uliik aesthetically speaking is an awesome design.

It being a three-man-crew ship that's covered in fecking Beskar is not. Beskar is stupid as hell.

Just like Cortosis.

From what I understand Beskar is actually better than Cortosis, Beskar is harder and better against everything else (like blasters and Physical weapons like grenades, knifes, rocks) and Cortosis is very brittle and only useful against lightsabers

I used to like them a LOT. That was before I learned of Beskar and their other fanon-into-canon BS. I liked them because they were the perfect modern warrior. Hand to hand, blaster to blaster, even blade to blade. They were very good at fighting with just about anything, because they trained their whole life just to fight, just for the hunt, for the battle. You could strip a man like Jango Fett down to his underwear and he may very well have a solid chance at defeating you.

That's what made The Mandalorians legendary to me. They were the warriors of The Galaxy, amoral and unable to align with any particular code, because all they wanted, was the fight.

Then all this tech wharblgarbl came out and they suddenly had nearly infinite resources and stuff like Beskar was just too cool for school to be mined by The Empire because only Mandalorians could do it and they had the greatest of everything!

To me? A Mandalorian isn't his equipment. A Mandalorian is himself (or herself!) and the tools, while a Mandalorian can be very, VERY good at using them, is not defined by their tools.

Traviss' mandos are defined by their tools.

Real mandos are not.
