So Howlrunner is a total babe?! [PICTURE]

FFG/Star Wars the first pro transgender gaming system.

Either the FAQ is typo, or else "Echo" and "Whisper" are actually code names used by who ever happens to be flying those ships.

Honestly it would be wicked cool if they just happen to be code names assigned to those specific ships.

WTF does this matter? Maybe save your social justice crusade for something that isnt a fantasy game set far far away and long long ago.

Hot babes flying space ships is a social justice crusade...? So be it! Sign me up for the fight!

...and people wonder why there aren't more women in the hobby...

This is a pretty important point... My wife, a gamer, complains about the lack of female characters in a lot of these games. I agree with her.

I joined the Empire for the cookies...

The actress that portrayed her in the Jedi Knight cutscenes is a knockout.

So. Much. Yes.

Are we seriously debating Echo again? FFS people, you guys keep citing "Echo" on wikis... What, one person ONLY has a code name?

I'm sure there's MANY echos, and THIS one is a Phantom pilot.

FFS guys.

Yeah the FAQ.

So we have 1 FAQ vs 3 articles, with about 6+ references to Echo as a He.

So the guys writing the articles made the same mistake as everyone else, to be fair she was probably neither male or female originally, these guys just assume she was a he as guys do.

The whole point of an FAQ is to set things straight, and written by the actual rule writers.

Therefore she's a lady.

I choose to believe this. It makes sense and it's what I want to believe.

Settled - Echo is a woman.

Yep. Works for me!

The rules guys don't have any more authority to set the gender of a pilot then anyone else does. Plus we don't even know who wrote those articles... They could of been the same people who wrote the FAQ, which in turn where most likely not written by Frank or Alex. They may decided what the rulings are, but they are most likely not the ones doing the actual writing.

Either way we have 6+ references to Echo and Whisper as male vs 1 to Echo as a she... FAQ's are not more authoritative for anything other then the question itself.

Again, if you want to call "Echo" a she... go for it, I don't care. But there's a preponderance of evidence to the contrary.

FOR LANCER FRIGATE'S SAKE GUYS.

...and people wonder why there aren't more women in the hobby...

Could it have anything to do with men and women having different tastes? Blaming the hobby for the fact that most women choose to do other things is the height of dishonesty.

"Echo" is totes a chick bro.

No he's not, and here's the proof. For the record if I had to have a preference I'd prefer one of the Phantom pilots were female... But honestly I don't care.

...

I think that it's much more likely that the article authors defaulted to male pronouns incorrectly than the FAQ did the opposite, since someone deciding to say "she" is probably a deliberate choice.

That said, I like the idea of the callsign being tied to the ship.

I'll tell you why. Guys like HoboJebus.

It's completely possible and even likely that FFG hasn't set a gender for either one. In which case the FAQ could of used the female pronoun because so many people here use that pronoun.

Guys there can be more than one Echo.

I like the idea of the callsign being tied to the ship.

Not me. I like the idea of a bad@ss space babe blowing up the Millenium Falcon just before a goofy gold-colored droid screams "We're doomed!"

Guys there can be more than one Echo.

That's IMO the most reasonable answer. "Echo" is clearly a callsign not a name. So it could apply to anyone.

And to maybe get this back on topic. Even if you consider "Echo" a she, that at best means Imp's are tied with Reb's at 3 named female pilots each.

Umm, I hate to put a stop to the flow of testosterone that has suddenly erupted here but, remember, those lovely ladies are Imperials. They'd just as soon gut you like a fish as look at you.

remember, those lovely ladies are Imperials.

That would only matter if you were a rebel... or at least not an Imperial.

I don't disagree about the lack of women characters in general... I was speaking more about the commentary and attitudes in this thread. :)

Again... Wasn't talking about the cards, pilots, or anything game-related... I'm talking about the attitudes and commentary of the people in this thread with blatant and crude objectification.

I'm not blaming the hobby for anything... I'm blaming the people in it.

It's not just this thread go back to when we were talking about whisper and echos gender, people were really against either of them being female one even going so far as to claim it was a geriatric clone trooper so could not be a female it was silly.

It's like the pilots worth less because it's a woman, sadly some people are stuck in the past.

Well I definitely wasn't laughing.
