Corran Horn builds

By DreadStar, in X-Wing

I didn't run up against any swarms luckily as they were my key concern (as you say you need to take down ships very quickly before you start to lose the numbers game). To show just how heavy Falcon the Meta was, I faced 7 falcons in my 5 matches, broken down by:

- Round 1: Han and 2 Bs

- Round 2: Han and Corran

- Round 3: Lando and 2 Bs

- Round 4: Lando and Chewie

- Top 4: Lando and Chewie (this was the list that won it all)

I did play test against Swarms and knew I had a chance if I flew better than my opponent but was glad I didn't have to test it out. There weren't any Whisper mini-swarms at the Tourney actually (surprisingly). There were two Phantom, Fel and Shuttle builds though. I had travelled up with and play tested against the list that came 2nd the night before and I got wiped off the table so I knew it would be a hard match up. So long as I could force the fight to be in the asteroids (so I limited his options) I felt good about a rematch, but in the play test we fought in the open and his mobility just smashed me.

In play testing I found the list to be great vs Falcons, and to have a chance vs Phantoms (if you can use the HLC arcs to scare the Phantoms into Corrans eventual arc) and Swarms (if you can take off a ship or two early).

There is already a lot of noise going on about the "Fat Dash" build:

Dash Rendar w/ Heavy Laser Cannon, Outrider, Engine Upgrade, Push the Limit and Kyle Katarn (58)

I've personally liked the Dash with VI in the PS bid war of the old meta. This build of Dash seems to be proving worth it's weight in points as you get crazy action economy with PTL and Klye. The new meta seems to be coming down on PS levels in favor of more ships and this opens the door for Dash. This leaves 42 points to fill out your squad. With so many already aware of the threat Dash is this is the perfect spot to drop a Horn in.
