2. I think our Mentor should feel the coming darkness and sends us away with a holocron. knowing he has lit 2 new candles to light the darkness but he needs to get those candles away from him before he gets snuffed out. And dying in the attack on the comm center is cinematic.

Nice, so maybe something like [mentor] pulls us aside before the attack on the comms array, and hands us the holocron saying that in case he doesn't make it, he hopes it will bring us wisdom as it has for him. I could totally see that in a movie.

3. The attack on the comm center perhaps puts the base on high alert which results in the shuttle getting shot down. Maybe it crashes near the temple and when our mentor dies we run back to the temple and strip it bare and escape into the jungle. To perhaps run into the shuttle crash.

Sorry I was away from my computer all weekend, went up to San Francisco and spent most of it at the beach. I got a bunch of emails while I was typing this up and I haven’t looked at them yet, but I’ll reply later tonight when I get through going over them. Love the level of participation from you guys.

So far I see two groups of two prior to the start of the first session. Gribble and Daeglan (Jedi Group), Kerfuffin and Osprey (Rebel Group). I’ll start referring to them as such to make things easier. I’ll start with the Jedi Group BG first, since that one is the bigger base of the storyline.

Jedi Group:

Love the ideas so far for the Jedi Group BG. However, the [Jungle Planet] is going to have to be more secluded than what it appears to be so far. Think something more like Yavin 4 and Lamaredd put together, with an indigenous species that still exists, a small settlement of “fringers”, and an “abandoned” Jedi Temple. I can easily come up with a planet name, history, and description if you guys would like or you can collaborate between the two of you to come up with them yourselves. Or pick a pre-existing planet to start on. It will have to be something that has a settlement, but either no established spaceport or a very rarely visited one (creating a new planet will be infinitely easier than finding a pre-existing one since I don’t know of one like that myself). But because of the seclusion needed to make the BGs and the overall storyline work, there won’t be any Imperial presence on the planet after Order 66 has been executed and the Jedi Temple has been wiped out.

Gribble – For your character’s BG, instead of the stormtroopers being involved, just substitute them with something else, like a local gang of thugs or a tribe of the indigenous species or corrupt local security forces (basically anything “local” to the planet). I like the idea of a companion for your character though too. Not sure which one yet, I’ll have to research the jungle cats and get back to you. Also, you won’t be able to start with a lightsaber if you want to start with the jungle cat, and you’ll have half the starting credits worth of equipment (this will reflect the fact that you are a “local” and basically means your “jungle cat” is worth 5,000 credits of your starting 10,000 credits).

Daeglan – Your good with as far as starting with a lightsaber and I like the Krayt Dragon Pearl idea too. It can be just one pearl with two other “basic” crystals to complete it. Either your mentor can make it for you or building it yourself can be part of your BG, just let me know which you want to go with. Also, since you’re going with the lightsaber option, you’ll only have 500 starting credits during character creation, but let me know if you need anything specific that costs more and we can try to justify you having it through your BG.

As far as your mentor goes, you guys can be as creative with that as you like. I like all the ideas you have for him so far with the “still alive” option, the “spirit ghost” option, or the “passing on a holocron” option. That’s entirely up to you as well as your mentors BG (which doesn’t have to be long at all, unless you want it to be). Just take the comm station part out since there won’t be an established Imperial presence on the planet. Also, don’t worry about the “shuttle crash” part of the background, cause that will be the start of the first session. The end point for your Jedi Group BG can be anything as long as it remains “local”, can even be just a regular old day for you guys to start off the first session with or it can be right after the death of your mentor or anything else you guys want it to be. Don’t worry about meeting the Rebel Group yet, you guys are going to all meet up during the first session.

Ok, I’ll post something for the Rebel Group BG in about an hour. I’m going to have to give a little more guidance with Kerfuffin and Osprey so that they can fit into the storyline I have in mind, but I’ll basically be picking from all of the ideas you guys have been throwing out there. Love the ideas, btw. You guys are definitely being very creative with the BGs, which I love.

In that case I propose that there has been trouble between the settlers and a tribe of natives, and our mentor had a bad experience during the clone wars with a native species, so we've been attacking them. In retaliation raided the settlement and captured my mother, rather than that being stormtroopers. That work? If so I'll re-write out my background later tonight with the changed details.

In terms of the companion, that is a talent from the Pathfinder specialisation... typically it doesn't cost anything to have a companion as you're "paying" for it with XP. If you still want me to pay half my credits for it that's cool, just thought I'd point it out as you may not be aware of the rules from F&D. I'll flick the group an email with the relevant rules and the stats for nexu (if you don't already have them) and tusk cats.

Gribble - Yes, that definitely works for your background, I like it. Sorry about the mix up with the companion rules, I haven't read through all of the F&D yet and thought they were more like the rules from the old WotC. I'll have to read up on the Pathfinder, but go ahead and give your character the full 10,000 starting credits worth of equipment.

Be sure to let me know if I'm missing out on any rules or material you guys want to use. I know this system is new for us, so it's definitely a learning experience.

Ok, now for Kerfuffin and Osprey.

Rebel Group:

As far as the basis for you two going to the [Jungle Planet] together, we’ll have to establish how you both find out about the planet itself. It will start out with a rumor going around town amongst the “locals”.

The Rumor - “Did you hear about that lightsaber wielding Jedi Knight running around deep in the jungle outside of town? They say he leaves piles of [Jungle Cats] sliced in half all over the place.”

This will be the rumor that makes it to the occasional spacers that actually come through the system (maybe two or three merchant ships a week, depending on the planet that the Jedi Group comes up with). Of course this rumor makes its way to a Rebel Alliance recruitment office, which is when Kerfuffin gets assigned to the mission that is sent to the [Jungle Planet].

The rumor also makes its way to the Bounty Hunter’s Guild, and Osprey’s Rodian supervisor assigns him to “gather information” on the rumor of a Jedi Knight in the nearby sector. The Rodian supervisor also receives a message from an undercover contact he has in the Rebel Alliance recruitment office about the mission to look for this Jedi. Through this undercover contact, the supervisor gets Osprey a spot on the Rebel’s Jedi Mission team. This is how Kerfuffin and Osprey end up serving on the same team. The team will be made up of a small transport ship as the flagship and a couple of escort fighters. You guys can make up the rest from there, but the end of your BG will be when the Jedi Mission team jumps into hyperspace towards the [Jungle Planet]. Sorry if that’s a bit restrictive, but you should still be able to fit that into the BGs that you already have pretty easily.

Kerfuffin – Dornean sounds like a really good fit for your character. Instead of the Sullustan stats though (subterranean species), use the Aqualish stats (similar aquatic species). If you don’t have them, I can send them to you. Also, love the BG. I’ll have more for you after I look over your char sheet.

Osprey – I don’t have any changes for you yet since I haven’t looked at your char sheet, but from what you posted in the thread it looks great. Thanks for joining us. J

Looks like it was made awhile ago by a d6 guy/gal? It looks like it builds a system with a random name generator, and then down below you can hit the red X to the right of each item and it changes things like atmosphere or govenment, then create a little more back story. Looking at the above link you can generate towns and stuff like that also. I wouldn't look at it much for generating much more than a system, planet or a city/town/village.

maybe the natives work with slavers on occasion selling people they capture from the settlement for slaves. this will lead to a constant source of friction.

The natives are something big like Trandoshans. Not trandoshans but similar in attitude and behavior. They just do not have their own means of travel off planet. And no industrial base. So they trade for their tech with slavers.

@Nevermind If we are going to use Roll20 with Google hangout. which I recommend. It provides private forums for your game. Along with the other stuff. There is a Roll20 Character sheet template as well.

the aqualish stats and racial bonuses dont really fit the lore for the dornean, they are naval masters, not thugs.

the background sounds good otherwise.

I was thinking of me leading the squad of 3 Z95-Headhunters along with a YG-4210 Light Freighter (can hold 9 and is cheap, should be enough for a small team and the jedi should they join up).

Nevermind, I don't want to sound like I am tootin Oggdude's horn (sorry don't do rusty trombone), but I think you would be pleased with his character generator. You can go into the data editor and copy the Sullustan then change the species name and BG. Question: do i sound lazy or what?
