EotE recruitment, Friday evenings 7-10pm MST(-7GMT) Google Hangouts+

By WoodenMonkeyGod, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

We probably want so e thing that is a more solid anchor to the party for osprey. You have a goal for to get us into the rebels and we have a common enemy. Gribble and I had the same master and have a shared goal with differing philosophy.

Maybe you and osprey have a shared history somehow.

Like maybe you know the jerk leightenant and had problems with them.

I agree with what you 2 are saying and play it out. Maybe, I am going to far with role-playing but I built Tench with basically the thoughts you 2 are having but a little bit deeper. I am (Tench) in a pretty bleak part of life. Having little trust for others and trying to climb out of the rut that has been my life. I need to start seeing that there is good that goes with the bad. My possessions are a old worn out hold out pistol that I bought while still in the Navy, old grimy heavy uniform coveralls, and previously used military backpack that were issued to me because the Imps don't issue the best equipment to new recruits fresh out of Mech school (I might as well have bought them due to the amount of creds spent try trying to clean them). After observing the party trying to figure out what to make of them and what the hell Force Sensitives/Users are, things start to look up. Just remember I need convinced cause it is my original intent to take everyone in for the bounty that the guild administrator is probably gonna rip me off of some how...imagine the fight if I tried, how bad would I be messed up trying to take 3 of you all on? Not trying to force this, but think of the possibilities Nevermind could come up with and the role-playing with this that we could do as a side to the original story line Nevermind came up with.

Maybe this.
Obviously the rebellion cant advertise they are the rebellion so we set up a touring/ferrying agency front. We happen to be touring to the force sensitive planet. Tench cant book fancy passage so he comes to the rebel touring agency to book passage. to keep up apperances we agree. we can RP meeting and the passage briefly in the first session before (Plot Device) makes it the two of us.

and Osprey i would start with the 10k of extra gear if i were you or atleast some stuff to deal with computers/mechanics. no need to put yourself at a disadvantage.

What I'll do is take the tool kit and slicer kit price from the 10k since those were prized possessions, and minimize the rest unless you can thing of something else I may need. I have binders, comlink, stimpack x4, and my backpack along with the tools and slicer gear now (love Oggdudes' char generator). What are you thinking of as far as getting the characters together?

you could also upgrade your armor. possibly upgrade a blaster etc.

maybe a datapad and a fusion lantern. i would look into a better weapon/armor as we are bound to see some form of combat

well the two jedi are on this other planet, I am a rebel sent to help recruit them and you are brining them in for the Imperial Bounty.

Me and you meet up off planet, you need transport to [Jedi Planet] and the rebel front business of [star Tours] can take you there, because we are secretly going there for the same reasons. Something bad happens when we get close and crash or loose the other people who came with us. then us two meet up with the two Jedi charecters (Daeglan and gribble) and go save the universe or something

I'll up grade my armor and weapon's however I can, picked up tools and a bunch of other stuff to help with slicing, as if I was a little more established. Running out of encumbrance.

Do the Jedi know I am coming or do I need to walk up to them with a thermal detonator?

We do not know neverminds plan yet. But we likely will not know you are coming.

Can we exchange emails in PM? I can send you guys my char sheet to look at if you downloaded Oggdude's generator

for the first half session or so from what i am thinking will happen (keep in mind im almost always wrong) me and you will be together and the jedi will be together. we will meet up halfway though that session and figure out how to continue from there.

Sure. the only one without PM access is gribble. his is broken,

I'll up grade my armor and weapon's however I can, picked up tools and a bunch of other stuff to help with slicing, as if I was a little more established. Running out of encumbrance.

Do the Jedi know I am coming or do I need to walk up to them with a thermal detonator?

also i would think of a way for your character to come to terms with not joining the BH guild, if he decides screw it and continues to take them in it would pretty disruptive i think. While there might be a way for my char (Rebel) and your BH to meet, there should be a reason why we stick together after we find the force sensitives. They are looking to expand their knowledge (maybe/possiby?), i want to help recruit them for the alliance and you want to capture them for the bounty. Mine and theirs arent mutually exclusive, your reasons for being there seem a bit limiting to the rest of us. so just keep that in mind over the next few weeks. we dont want the party to start fighting as soon as we meet up in game.

I agree. That I why i was mentioning needing a more solid anchor to the group. Kerfuffle Gribble and I have goals that mesh well and are likely to build into a strong bond. Your wanting to capture Gribble and I will lead to hostility. As we would turn on you. The bounty contract is a fine reason to bring us together. But you need a reason why you would not follow through and would instead join us. Maybe you find out the bounty was put out by the guy who ran you out of imperial service and want to stick it to him. Maybe you had a brief encounter with Kerfuffle's character in the past and it was a positive encounter maybe he stuck his neck out for you...

Basically why would you betray your contract and stick with us.

As an example you show up to take Gribble and I in but see kerfuffle with us and go I can't hurt that guy...I owe him....crap....

When we get this going, I will roll with the flow. Thats roll playing, was thinking that the Jedi do something to start changing my mind will I was observing them or save my life when I get jumped by either an opposing bounty hunter or a bounty hunter tracking me. Never was looking for that fight.

Reading through the thread. Will post as soon as I get something together.

Still no news on the messaging front, but here is my mostly completed background:

Renko gets his size from his father - or at least that's what his mother always tells him. According to her, Renko's father was a soldier who fought for the Republic against the Separatists during the Clone Wars. From what Renko has been able to piece together though, he thinks it's more likely his father was a Mercenary or Bounty Hunter. After all, what kind of official Republic soldier arrives on an out of the way planet, in his own freighter, along with a rag-tag assortment of other individuals looking for "someone"?

Regardless of the truth, his fathers short tryst with his mother while on world meant he probably didn't even know Renko existed, much less have an opportunity to met him. Renko's mother raised him as best she could, although working as a servant for the richer familes in town wasn't easy or well paying work.

Although bigger than most of the other kids in town, Renko never really go on with them. While his size ensured he was never outright bullied, his poor upbringing didn't make him popular and his only friend was his overprotective mother. He had a habit of exploring the jungle around [settlement] by himself and he found he was pretty adept at avoiding the [jungle cats] and other dangerous wildlife. It was on one of these excursions that he found the ruins. He wasn't really sure what they used to be - the stones showed signs of blaster damage and he could just make out some strange weathered symbols that he didn't understand. Regardless it was a fun place to play, although he always had the feeling he was being watched.

One day at the ruins, he noticed a human kid approaching. He remembered this boy as one of the few who treated him kindly, so he approached the boy. Durian and Renko quickly became friends - they would meet up at the ruins whenever they could and play, and Renko's days always seemed much happier when Durian was around. At least until the day that Durian was followed to the ruins by a pack of [jungle cats]. Although the cats never seemed to mind Renko for some reason, they took less kindly to other interlopers. Renko tried to drive them off, but eventually the pack encircled the boys and things looked grim.

That was when [mentor] appeared, with a battlecry and the snap and hiss of a lightsaber blade being ignited he drove off the predators. Most of them at least - one remained on the edge of the jungle clearing staring at Renko for some time, before [mentor] chased it away. [Mentor] introduced himself to the boys, saying he had been watching them for some time, and that he could feel their connection to the force. Although initially scared of the dirty and slightly crazed man, both boys felt an inexplicable kinship towards the stranger and instinctively knew he could be trusted.

The boys time at the ruins then became much more serious, as the man would tell them stories of the atrocities committed by the Empire and its white masked troopers, interspersed with lessons in the use of the force and lightsaber combat. Although Renko was always much more comfortable fighting with his fists, he learned the basics of lightsaber combat and force use.

On his frequent trips to the jungle ruins, Renko continued feeling that he was being watched, and on one of these journeys he was startled to find a [jungle cat] blocking his path. The creatures had never bothered him before, but this one stood in his path growling and he flet a strange familiarity with the beast. Refusing to back down, Renko approached the beast, ready for it to pounce and grapple with him. He was surprised when, instead of pouncing, the beast ceased it's growling and sat down on all fours in front of him. As he approached it licked his hand, and since that moment the beast has accompanied Renko each day on his journey to and from the ruins, sitting at the edge of the clearing and observing the three as they trained.

As the years passed and the boys became men, [mentor] encouraged their training to take on a more practical aspect, ambushing and taking out stormtrooper patrols in the jungle. Although they were always careful not to strike when reinforcements were near, and especially not close to [settlement], Renko returned home one evening to find a group of troopers roughly questioning his mother about his whereabouts. He saw red, and attacked the patrol, wiping them out but not before he was noticed. Reinforcements arrived and he needed to use force powers to escape – unfortunately he wasn’t able to rescue his mother and she was taken into custody.

He fled to the temple ruins, and [mentor] didn’t take the news well at all. He decided that the three of them would make a pre-emptive strike on the communications array, to prevent word of Renko’s force use from reaching wider Imperial authorities.

From here there are a few points to figure out - I figured we wanted to do it as a group as it kind of impacts on us all:

  • Name and details of [settlement].
  • Species/name/etc details for [mentor].
  • Decision (prob best for Nevermind to make this one) on whether Nexu or Tusk Cats are the [jungle cat]. I can provide stats for each, but I think the Nexu could possibly be too powerful as a companion (and is probably silhouette 2 anyway).
  • What happens to [mentor] during the attack on the comms array? I figure we have three main options: he survives and remains as a mentor; he falls in battle but remains as a "force spirit" mentor; he falls in battle and passes on to us a holocron, which he learned from previously.
  • Maybe the strike on the comms array is what results in the other two characters' shuttle crashing on arrival? It could crash into the spaceport (or maybe even into another vessel leaving the spaceport), resulting the spaceport being damaged and unusable as well as the comms array?

how do i look at it?

i got it but i dont know how to locate where to put it to access it in oggdudes

The bounty contract is a fine reason to bring us together. But you need a reason why you would not follow through and would instead join us.

Another option - maybe the bounty was a "capture alive" bounty, and you find out it was actually placed by the Rebels. Kerfuffin's character either knows this or finds out (maybe by accessing a datapad in the wreckage of the shuttle?), hence by delivering to his character you can successfully "complete" the bounty?

That could have implications when/if we later meet the Rebels who actually placed the bounty...

Ha ha, sorry mate - we've been busy in your absence. Probably a few pages of content to read through! Feel free to override anything you don't like or that doesn't mesh with what you have in mind.

After re-reading, that sounds like a good idea. I could owe Gribble as a Pilot for saving my butt cause I made a minor mistake maintaining his ship and didn't report me to who ever, or something like that. Making even minor mistakes in my mind can lead to overly severe punishments in the Empire to include death.

I like it. I have my work cut out for me :) To compare to that good writing.

Some thoughts.

1. I think we should be too late with getting word out.

2. I think our Mentor should feel the coming darkness and sends us away with a holocron. knowing he has lit 2 new candles to light the darkness but he needs to get those candles away from him before he gets snuffed out. And dying in the attack on the comm center is cinematic.

3. The attack on the comm center perhaps puts the base on high alert which results in the shuttle getting shot down. Maybe it crashes near the temple and when our mentor dies we run back to the temple and strip it bare and escape into the jungle. To perhaps run into the shuttle crash.

I'll up grade my armor and weapon's however I can, picked up tools and a bunch of other stuff to help with slicing, as if I was a little more established. Running out of encumbrance.

Not Gribble Kerfuffle. Gribble is with me on the planet :)

With Oggdude's Generator you Should go into character gen and import the file from where you saved it. then you can look at it. Printer option won't let me save it to pdf. Well let me check the last part.
