EotE recruitment, Friday evenings 7-10pm MST(-7GMT) Google Hangouts+

By WoodenMonkeyGod, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I was more thinking the padawan was there when the Jedi were massacred, he just hid (or was hidden) and hence witnessed the whole thing. Made him a wee bit twisted and fearful of the clones/stormtroopers and empire, hence him encouraging us to take up the fight against the empire, and hence some of my characters darker tendencies.

Was thinking the ruins were probably a little closer than a couple of hours away, but definitely hidden away on the outskirts of the settlement we hail from and largely forgotten about.

Either the mentor could still be alive, or he could have died and passed on a holoron. Either way works.

:)

so depending on what we want to do i am thinking AoR squad leader/force sensative or the Shien Expert.

If i was the AoR squad leader it could give me a reason to be there (Rebels heard of force sensitivies with some training, want them for the rebellion) and a 'way' off planet

The planet is a jungle planet. The temple has been over grown.

The main exports are exotic plants used in pharmaceuticals.

Nexu are a problem. they were originally imported as guard animals and a few escaped and have become a nuisance in the jungles hunting people.

Part of out training would have been to kill some nexu to reduce the threat to the local civies. I could also see us trapping nexu and leaving them in places like storage closets on the imperial base.

the local Moff a female Moff named Moff Den Kat is a big game hunter who hunted all sorts of game and had a couple krayt dragon trophies with the pearls. I stole these pearls to make my lightsabers. She is a little upset about the loss of part of her trophies.

I like both options. Which would you find more fun?

once i get a chance to play around with the char builder ill know more lol, but TBH im leaning towards the SL/Force Sensitive, if that works with the GM.

also could be a good way to help beta test if F&D chars quickly outstrip EotE/AoR chars at mid/high xp levels

Sounds good - for some reason I was picturing it as a jungle planet as well! The nexu also works well as I was thinking of maybe taking some of the Pathfinder tree and getting a Nexu (or similar) companion.

On the krayt dragon pearls, you might be out of luck there - knight level play you only start with a basic lightsaber. Still I like incorporating it into the story - gives you a goal to work towards in game (Assuming Nevermind is ok with it of course).

:)

I'm actually torn between starting at knight level or not... I'll probably make up two versions of my character and go with whichever one the group decides.

Play whichever you prefer of course, but I like the idea of SL/FS. You can always pick up the Shien specialisation in play and work towards that.

:)

The other option are tusk cats (stats in F&D and probably more appropriate for a companion) instead of Nexu?

Gotta throw stuff at the wall and see what the GM says yay or nay too. it is simple enough to swap the crystals :)

highlight my name. send message is an option :)

Hmmm... when I hover your your name (I assume that is what you mean by "highlight"?), I get a pop up but no send message option... any ideas? I'll have a dig around in my account settings and see if I can find anything that might be causing it.

there is an envelope at the top right of the page where your notifications are. in there there is an option to disable messenger and you probably have that selected.

I know what you mean, and I remember seeing it previously, but I can't see it now.

Can you try sending me a PM please?

shows i cant do it from your profile.

i can do it for the others however

yeah when I try and add you it won't let me because you do not have messenger active.

Weird - I can't find any setting anywhere that allows me to enable it either...

yeah i cant seem to find where to (re)activate the messaging when looking through edit profile settings

no envelope next to the notifications?

no envelope next to the notifications?

nope.

very odd.

I've contacted the admins... at least I hope I have. There doesn't seem to be a way to contact them except for messaging, so I "reported" the FFG administrator. Hopefully they get the message and are able to sort it out.

any news?

Not that i have heard. But we ought to work on our back grounds. What do you think of what we have so far? And what changes or ideas do you have?

well ive been playing around with the updated char gen and i am liking my rebel force sensitive 'rescuer'

IMO i think finding a 4th player would be ideal, but im not really sure its as needed in the narrative style as it is the D&D type of rpgs.

as for the background as a group i think we are good to go until it gets closer to gametime and we all have our ideas in place, that way we can just hash it out right before once we all have better ideas of what we want to be/have happen

So your character will be visiting from elsewhere to "rescue us". Right? I Like it.
Do tell more :)

I've got the first few paragraphs down, and a couple of "bullet points" for the rest so far. You guys got any idea on how our characters could have met? Actually, I guess it's just Daeglan's character I need to meet initially, as we'll be meeting Kerfuffin's character much later.

Renko gets his size from his father - or at least that's what his mother always tells him. According to her, Renko's father was a soldier who fought for the Republic against the Separatists during the Clone Wars.
From what Renko has been able to piece together though, he thinks it's more likely his father was a Mercenary or Bounty Hunter. After all, what kind of official Republic soldier arrives on an out of the way planet, in his own freighter, along with a rag-tag assortment of other individuals looking for "someone"?
Regardless of the truth, his fathers short tryst with his mother while on world meant he probably didn't even know Renko existed, much less have an opportunity to met him. Renko's mother raised him as best she could, although working as a servant for the richer familes in town wasn't easy or well paying work.
Although bigger than most of the other kids in town, Renko never really go on with them. While his size ensured he was never outright bullied, his poor upbringing didn't make him popular. Until he met the other PCs his only friend was his overprotective mother.
- meeting other PCs
- visiting ruins, meeting mentor
- nexu/tusk cat companion
- fight with imps while protecting mother
- attack on the comms tower
As you can probably gather, if we're starting at knight level he's going to pick up the pathfinder specialisation and have a tusk cat/nexu companion.
PS: oh, and no news on the messaging front.
