EotE recruitment, Friday evenings 7-10pm MST(-7GMT) Google Hangouts+

By WoodenMonkeyGod, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

so i was thinking a dornean Squadron leader/force sensitive from the AoR book. using Sullustian stats but dornean for background purposes only.

Dorneans are basically tuskless walrus navy people.

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Etahn_A%27baht
has some more info on the race and their involvment in the rebellion. if thats not ok im fine with a regular sullustian

Cool i like it.

I am thinking I was on the same planet as Renko.
Durian Keldrona is 5'10 medium build with long black hair.

I was raised by my mother. She was with one of the Jedi on the expedition who died in order66
His mother raised him well and he got along with the community. Did not like how Renku was treated.
As a teenager he was drawn to the temple and he did not know why. When he was there he met...the jedi knight who would train Renku and Durian

  • Fighting imps
  • protecting mother
  • Stealing Krayt pearls
  • Meeting other PCs
  • attack on comm tower
  • escape from planet(Guessing this will be in game.

I've got the first few paragraphs down, and a couple of "bullet points" for the rest so far. You guys got any idea on how our characters could have met? Actually, I guess it's just Daeglan's character I need to meet initially, as we'll be meeting Kerfuffin's character much later.

Renko gets his size from his father - or at least that's what his mother always tells him. According to her, Renko's father was a soldier who fought for the Republic against the Separatists during the Clone Wars.
From what Renko has been able to piece together though, he thinks it's more likely his father was a Mercenary or Bounty Hunter. After all, what kind of official Republic soldier arrives on an out of the way planet, in his own freighter, along with a rag-tag assortment of other individuals looking for "someone"?
Regardless of the truth, his fathers short tryst with his mother while on world meant he probably didn't even know Renko existed, much less have an opportunity to met him. Renko's mother raised him as best she could, although working as a servant for the richer familes in town wasn't easy or well paying work.
Although bigger than most of the other kids in town, Renko never really go on with them. While his size ensured he was never outright bullied, his poor upbringing didn't make him popular. Until he met the other PCs his only friend was his overprotective mother.
- meeting other PCs
- visiting ruins, meeting mentor
- nexu/tusk cat companion
- fight with imps while protecting mother
- attack on the comms tower
As you can probably gather, if we're starting at knight level he's going to pick up the pathfinder specialisation and have a tusk cat/nexu companion.
PS: oh, and no news on the messaging front.

So in order to get kerfuffins characters attention Gribble and I will have to have done stuff to cause there to be reports of jedi. This of course will be a double edged sword. Yes Kerfuffin will arrive and join us. and of course the ship he arrives in will be destroyed...cause our party did not choose the ship option. The other edge to the sword of course is we also get the attention of the Inquisitorius. and an Inquisitor will be sent to deal with us as well.

We will have to create our own ship option in game.

Jamer Le'Hind (Dornean, 89 years old)

Duty: Support(?)

Morality: Bravery/Recklessness

Motivation: Belief/The Republic

Jammer has always seemed to be more coordinated than his peers (unknown to him force sensitive with enchance power).

Born in the prime of the Republic Jamer was a young hotshot pilot and mechanic in the Dornean Navy. By the middle of the Clone Wars he was a squadron leader for the Dornean Navy, fighting on the side of the Republic. Growning up a civic minded loyal servant to his planet and his people, this was the greatest service he could desire. [Think old school Machiavelli/Plato type republicanism not modern ideals] With the dissolution of the Republic and rise of the Empire Jamer saw the virtues he upheld being disolved at their core. Jamer continued to serve in the Dornean Navy, defending Dornean space from the various half-hearted attempts at full Imperial subjugation. While this provided excitement for the first few years the various other trial and tribulations that came with not submitting to imerial rule caused tensions among the dornean population. With animosity growing towards the Empire and its policies at home, a few Dornean navy members (Jamer included) began to philosophically align with the Alliance to restore the republic. Their opportunity came in 2BBY when members of Alliance High Command requested Dornean assistance in their fledgling navy. Dornea offically refused but sent a few more outspoken pilots and military minds to aid the rebellion...

Since joining the Rebellion Jamer has been part of a few minor space combats, showing well. Most recently he has been sent to (Jungle World) as a fighter escort to a party of Rebel diplomats who had been dispatched to (Jungle World) to try and track down the truth of Jedi/force sensitives on the planet and try to recruit them.

(We can assume it doesnt start well for that mission and that can be our starting spot?)

Sounds good. So it sounds like your character will be older :)

and yeah I think that is a spot that makes sense. You might want to make sure you have the sense power with some range to it. As while our characters will likely be a bit of beacons feeling us will help. Unless you are still raw in your force ability and your points are more the pilot/commando side?

the reason I say commando is cause you might need some ground type skills to go with those pilot abilities

They live till about 300 according to the wookiepedia page on them, i figured it gave me some help being able to have lots of experience spread out over time.

I have most of my XP spent in squad leader, and only 20 in FSE, and i spent 10 on the basic enhance power. I figure the force side of development could come later with the holcron/help from your characters. i figure from the RP side i would be just flying escort, making sure we pick them up with no problems, another rebel NPC should have been able to pick you out when we arrived unharmed or uncompromised.

at which point things don't go according to plan :P as Mal would say why don't things ever go smooth?

Sounds like it will be a fun character.

And we have handed Nevermind several NPCs to work with. An Imperial Moff, an Inquisitor,,,

So Durian is a calm methodical zen kind of guy i think, Warrior monk.
Sounds like Renko is the aggressive hit first hit hark kind of guy. Cobra Kai from Karate kid.
My character is the voice of reason.

Whay is Jamer?

Sorry, Daeglan, pulling over from the other thread.Thought I was on this one when I posted what I posted. It was meant for here LOL.

As far as what I like to play, I built the BH/Gadgeteer on Oggduge's generator, but as far as I want to play. What do you guys feel would be able to really augment the FS/Knights in the party?

"Hey guys, I kept looking on the roll20 forums looking for a group to join and wasn't having any luck so I posted on the FFG forums and Daeglan was kind enough to point out that you needed another. I am not experienced with FFG but do have experience with AD&D 2nd (D, I thought it was 3rd but got to thinking that it has been a long time, am I showing my age?). I am still going through the thread and trying to figure out what career I want to start in, or better yet, what do we need? I really don't want to be useless in a fight, but I know we need some tech also. If it helps, I have the EotE Core and really don't want play a Jedi yet. Sorry, Daeglan, pulling over from the other thread."

Bounty hunter is great. What are they good at?
Tell us about them. :) . We are going to be doing advanced play which means after your base character you add 150 XP. But our GM is going to need about 1 page of background to justify it.

So tell us what they have done so far to justify the XP. And Tell us where you are at now? Do you know us?

I made him a Bounty Hunter/Gadgeteer. Bounty Hunter is just that with the talent of Gadgeteer gives him a mechanical career skill, some weapons skills, the tree includes, Jerry Rigged "Choose 1 weapon, 1 Armor, or other item and give it a permanent improvement while it remains in use" and Tinkerer "May add 1 additional hard point to a number of items equal to ranks, each item may only be upgraded once".

If the GM approves my back story and I get the extra xp to spend then I am thinking of genning up a Tech/Mechanic and taking the extra xp given and putting it towards the BH/G tree. Do we get some extra credits?

Just need to know where to send the back story to. Is it Nevermind?

Nevermind is the GM. and yes according to the rules 10,000 credits. but whatever you want to buy you will need to run by Nevermind :)

Keeping you backstory quiet eh?

Really looking for some roll playing and tweaking the back story a bit. Kinda made some of it comical. I won't be using much of the cash initially due to me being kinda on the run, and can carry only whats on my back. give me a few and I will post the back story.

What do you think?

Name: Tenchar Larick

Career: Tech/Outlaw Tech with Bounty Hunter/Gadgeteer

Obligation: Disgraced: 5 due to going AWOL, Bounty 5 Due to possibly having a bounty for being AWOL

Motivation: Discovery/Self

Backgraound: Orphaned at a young age Tench grew up on the streets of Tari on the planet of Kothis which produced hyper-drives for Imperial Star Desroyers.

The orphanage was located not far from the factories and was highly run down. Well the young human was enamored by the Stormtrooper guards, their armor, weapons, and discipline. The young man wanted this and started hanging around at the guard post and was noticed by one of the guards, named Peinin Twilightfall (BR-14-11-2), who made friends with him and would talk to him about the glorious military life. As Tench grew so did his passion for the Stormtrooper life.

On Tench's estimated 18th birthday Peinin took Tench to the local Imperial Recruiter's Administration to sign up to be a Stormtrooper. The recruiter took one look at Tench a stated “You're a little short to be a Stormtrooper, but do I have a job for you. I can get you in as a ship's mechanic, you get trained as in that and you get trained as a back-up Stormtrooper for when things get rough.”

Tench tells the recruiter “ok”, and is scheduled to start training in 2 weeks.

Well, Tench makes it through recruit training and starts training as a mechanic and was enjoying it and soon graduates with flying colors and is assigned to the Star Destroyer “Conquest” in the Tatoo System.

During a shore leave on a local planet, Tench sneaks into an officer's only club to check it out. While doing so, he bumps in to a Lieutenant spilling the Lieutenant's drink. The Lieutenant is furious and orders Tench back to the ship and start cleaning freshers, he would be there shortly. As Tench is leaving he recalls the same Lieutenant giving 13 lashes to another mechanic for a perceived minor infraction, and he decides to leave the Imperial Navy behind with the equipment he has on his person, due to those harsh punishments.

A few weeks later, hiding in the alley of another town, Tench sees a man start running down towards him being chased by another man in padded armor not far behind. Tench figures that he might be able to get a few credits helping the armored man out and sticks his foot out tripping the first man face first into the dust of the alley. The armored man walks up to Tench and states that he should get into law enforcement. Tench, knowing that he is a wanted man, non-nonchalantly states that it doesn't pay. The armored man looks at Tench and states, “If you want into bigger credits then maybe you should be a bounty hunter and points him to the local Bounty Hunter's Guild.

The Bounty Hunter's Guild Rodian administrator sees Tench walk through the door in his worn out Imperial Navy coveralls and doesn't like the looks of him. Tench approaches the Rodian and asks how to become a Bounty Hunter. The Rodian gurgles a laugh and tells Tench “you just don't become a Bounty Hunter, you do odd little jobs first.” and sends starts Tench of with little “hunts” by telling Tench where to go to look for bounties and to report back to him whether that bounty is where he thinks it is so a real “Hunter” can deal with it. After doing this, Tench would ask when he could go out and catch his own bounty. The Rodian got tired of this and after a few weeks of hearing the question got fed up and decided to teach Tench a lesson, and sends him to “some remote some what civilized” world to capture or incinerate a couple of Force sensitives, in the back of Tench's mind he is asking himself what are Force Sensitives”. The Rodian then tosses Tench just enough credits to get there and back.

I was looking for a way to compliment the group, mechanics will help repairing the ship among other things, upgrading gear, and being able to hold my own in a fight.

looks good. we all seem able in combat and we each have our own social/tech roles to fill. i think it will work out perfectly.

I agree looks good. should be fun :)

Can't wait to play :)

Never done this on the computer before, need pretty much step by step to set it all up.

BTW, I genned on Oggdude's generator and send the files to who ever.

as did we all :)

Most like will be done via google hangouts with the roll20 tool and edge of the empire die roller.

Ok looking forward to it. Did you guys ever decide on a firm day and time?

looks like 7pm pacific time. As I recall

Maybe Osprey's char is the one who brings the force sensitives to the rebels attention?

or hes mouthing off about how hes going to pick them up on the bounty and a rebel hears it, word gets out and thats why i and my team (to be killed off en route) go as well.

very interesting listen/read

Never done this on the computer before, need pretty much step by step to set it all up.

Once we get all the emails i think we can get it all set up. it's not all that complicated once we get it set up.

and i think we decided starting in two weeks at the times daeglan mentioned
