Well, i pitched out from the beta, which was a mess.

I picked up the 2nd Ed. today and on a first read through i must say i'm very impressed and excited to run with this.

I've an Iron Kingdoms campaign to run out first but DH2 will be on the table straight after that's done. :D

Ill be the first to admit I really wasnt too fond of DH1.But;as I have been going over the rules for DH2 I'm much happier.Looking forward too te future releases.

The rules are that much cleaner, eh?

It's bascially OW rules with a Dark Heresy background...really, people wanted choices in a setting where you had no choice but to take your place in the feodal order or get shot for trying to be different and your own person. Or non-dangerous psychic powers to spam.

To be fair, psychic powers got a subtle but incredibly influential change in how they function. You can't manifest Fettered powers any more (so you always have a 10% chance to cause Perils) and you have to choose between making your Focus Power rolls easier or boosting the potency of powers. There's less of a chance for things to go horribly wrong in DH2 than there was in the first edition, but then again a high-level psyker in DH1 was nearly as dangerous to their friends as to their enemies.

I think the use of fettered powers should be brought back by houseruling... Do you think there would be any problem if sanctioned psykers would be able to manifest powers without the danger of psychic phenomena at PR/2? Of course the bonus for reduced PR wouldn't be applied.

So removing every and any trouble using a supernatural ability can bring to the table, making it extremely powerful/useful without any consequences? That will bring unbalance to the game

But at PR/2, the effect should be quite limited. If you want stronger effects, you still have to take the risk of psychic phenomena. Essentially, it's just the way it works in OW, or am I wrong?

Beats me, I never had the pleasure of running a psyker apart from in DH; I did play a astropath in RT, and I understand how an Astropath can use powers at a lower risk/force (due to his mind bonding with the Emperor) but your run-of-the-mill psyker? No way, no never.

The psychic power system in DH2 looks similar to the one in OW, but a subtle change in the rules makes a MASSIVE difference in how it actually plays. I'll start a thread in the Rules Questions forum explaining the change because I've seen a lot of people who were confused by the change.

Minor complaint I mentioned during the BETA development that apparently did not get addressed - the names of Qualities/Traits associated with the Psyker and Untouchable Elite Advances. A Void/Beacon in the Warp should be reversed.

A more important concern is the book binding. I am not sure if it is my imagination, or if the binding of my book is already working itself loose. Very important since I've only had the books for 8 days at this point.

Honestly, I never liked the idea of Fettered powers, and removing them gives me a great idea for my own homebrew.

The only ones allowed to Fetter their powers are Astropaths (or others that are Soulbound).

Sounds about right to me.

The idea that stiff advancement paths could ever even begin to describe the limitless number of roles people would assume in a non-homogenous, galaxy-spanning empire is inane.
