Characteristic enhancement question

By Jivado, in Star Wars: Age of Rebellion RPG

A situation has arisen in which several players are unsure if something is to be read as written, or read as intended. Using the AoR core, or FaD beta for the Enhance force power, this comes up.

pg 23

During character creation, no characteristic can be increased above 5.
Once play begins, PC characteristics are capped at 6.

pg 299

Force power Enhance - control

Control Upgrade: This power gains the Ongoing
effect: Commit [Force Die] The Force user increases his Brawn
characteristic by 1 (to a maximum of 6).
Now page 23 states you can't exceed 6, but 299 says you can, assuming you have enough force die, dump up to 6 in enhancing brawn. Can you exceed that cap of 6 with the force and potentially get 12 brawn dice?
page 102 states
During character creation, no characteristic can be increased higher than 5. During the course of play, no characteristic can be increased higher than 6. Characteristics may only be purchased with experience points during character creation, not at any later time. (During gameplay, however, characteristics can be increased by purchasing specific talents, such as Dedication.)

It doesn't say you can't exceed the threshold with the force and with FaD giving more ways to get force rating, this has come up.

I'm pretty sure it means it increases your Characteristic to a max of 6, not that you can increase it 6 times. 6 is normally the maximum limit to Characteristics.

You can only commit one Force die to increase your Brawn, regardless of your Force Rating. The Enhance power says commit force-die-icon.png to increase Brawn by 1. So you can only commit one Force die. Unless stated otherwise, upgrades can only be activated once, and Enhance doesn't say you can.

Ahh, now I see how "by 1 (to a maximum of 6)" doesn't mean 6 applications, but if you're 5 brawn you can hit 6, but 6 brawn can't hit 7. I appreciate everyones responses.
