New maneuver?

By Rogue37, in X-Wing

Regardless, I don't see it happening. It would be pretty silly for them to release two ships with a unique maneuver, say this is their thing, and then give it to everybody. BTW, EPT is still for general use, because every ship has at least one pilot with access to it.

BTW, I've noticed the trend since the S&V announcement of everybody trying to convince themselves that they will get the new toys without playing the new faction. We have our allied Scum thread. We have this S-Loop thread. Any other things people want to mix and match from the new faction? Apparently this is the forum to convince yourself you will get it.

If the S-loop really ends up being Scum-only, that would be the first time a type of maneuver (or other type of movement) has been restricted to a single faction (unless you want to count Phantoms, which would be fair).

I'm certain that the whole notion of a third faction is a relatively recent idea. At least, the details probably weren't considered until after the first wave was on the shelves. So I expect we'll see some of what's new in Wave VI getting applied to Imperials and Rebels in the interests of parity. Some things (and maybe the S-loop will be one of them) should be primarily associated with one faction but not the others, but over the long haul I don't think we're going to see many faction-exclusive abilities.

And it doesn't make us all greedy for speculating about this stuff, so fly casual. :) I'll be playing Scum as soon as I possibly can, and it would be in my interests to see the other factions not have access to S-loops.

We always call k turns 'immelmans' as we're too used to real world flight games... 'k turn' is starting to creep in to our game speak but its usually 'immelman'

As for mispelt sigs. I used to frequent some German speaking forums and mispelt my sig of 'nichts fur ungut' as 'Nichts fur ungot' for years until someone pointed it out for me.

No offence meant either way.

It has happened before. Barrel rolls were exclusive to TIE's, only being accessible to other fighters through an EPT that also handed out stress.

Then wave 3 happened, and B-wings appeared on the scene with a stock barrel roll. And with Y-wings looking quite likely to get an upgrade that lets them take bombs, the previously Imperial only bomb upgrade is likely going to be accessible to everyone as well.

Oh, and astromechs. Previously rebel only, now for both rebels and S&V. S&V gets a Firespray of its own, so the double firing arc isn't Empire unique anymore either. Decimator gives turrets to the Empire, too. And the Phantom comes with two cloak upgrades, one specifically labelled Phantom only, the other one not. Hinting that cloaking isn't going to remain a Phantom-only upgrade forever.

It's actually quite amazing that between salvaged astromechs, the illicit upgrade and the segnor's loop, the Scum and Villainy faction already had more unique options than either other faction. Add to this the spreading of previously faction only options, and they now have more unique options than both of them combined. But given the growing list of cases where unique options got shared among other factions, including S&V, how long do you think that will last?

An Immelman turn end up behind the target not just in front facing them. I liked the idea of a straight back 3 move without a change of face. That's an Immelman!

too bad the ship its on is so ugly. Space bug.

Another bug to crush under the heel of our glorious Empire...

It's a great move. I hope other ships will be able to execute it at some small cost.
