Loving the game,but....

By robc73usa, in Strategy and deck-building

Years ago I discovered thanks to MtG I am terrible at deck building.

I am still using the core set and my partner and I have beaten the first two quests.

The problem I see coming is when I buy adventure packs/expansions.

Knowing what to add and takeaway from deck.

Any advice?

Thank you

I'd suggest it must be good buy first all the entire first cycle (Shadows of Mirkwood), and build your decks with all these player cards. After, play each scenario by cronology order.

After, buy Khazad Dum and all the entire second cycle (Dwarrowdelf), and build ... etc.

I think it is the best idea for new gamers.

If you don't care about "netdecking", I would advise you to take a look at the deckbuilding forum and the different decks people post, especially Tracker1's decks, which are notoriously good. You could also look at the different blogs like TalesfromtheCards and HallofBeorn, where you can find very powerful decks . You'll need to expand your player card pool though.

There are many sites online with premade decks to give you inspiration.

Talen from the cards has alot of material.

From beginners guides on what to buy to in depth single card reviews:

Hall of beorn has a lot of decks:

Hope these help!

Ha, I was typing the other post when the phone rang.

Seems old Gizlivadi here posted more or less the same thing in the mean time :)
