Final Fantasy Expansion

By Lord of Squirrels, in Fan Creations

Howdy all . This topic is for all the Final Fantasy dorks like me. I am beginning work on a custom expansion for all the Final Fantasy games. Even if I don't finish it I am still going to post my FF characters/Ancient ones on here. Some have already been posted but others haven't. If you have any FF characters or ideas let me know.

Thanks for looking

Long days and pleasant nights

I am starting on Final Fantasy 6 my favorite game of the series. Here is the first character.

Terra-Branford-Front-Side.jpg

She was an awesome spellcaster in the game and her ability was pretty brutal. She didn't get to use it much though.

:'D Uwee hee hee!

Locke-Cole-Front-Side.jpg

Here is Locke the Treasure Hunter. Good at getting items and at getting KO'd. Just like the game...

Mog--Front-Side.jpg

This is Mog the cute little Moogle who rips monster up with cool dance moves and a big spear.

Edgar-Figaro-Front-Side.jpg

Auto-Crossbow-Front-Side.jpg

Here is Edgar King of Figaro and tools expert. He is more hopeless with women than me. A 12 year old is the only one attracted to him. Sad.

I wouldn't play any of these cards because the theme feels wrong. But I think they're actually reasonably well designed, and they all remind me of the originals.

It is a little difficult to match the two games but it may match better when I make a board for them (then I get the pleasure of changing the start spaces ugh). I am enjoying the challenge though. Only thing I am not looking forward to is the mythos/gate cards. May just use the base cards and assume Arkham=Final Fantasy.

BTW which Final Fantasy was your fav?

VI/III

:'D

I always thought VII was *very* overrated mostly because it had flashy graphics and CGI cutscenes when it first came out. Well, which looks more dated now? VI or VII? ::Evil laughter::

I think Sephiroth is what made 7 so popular. He was just badass as the villain. I really liked the rest of it but he was what made it so good. But FF6 was the first great game I played and the music and characters were awesome.

The characters in FF7 had those weird no elbow arms, that always creeped me out. I really don't care much about graphics, give me a good story and gameplay anyday. And good music helps alot too.

I still think Kefka's a better villain than Sephiroth. Sure Sephiroth killed Aeris and lookd cool, but Kefka poisoned an entire town and Cyan's family. ::Laughter:: and his numerous treacheries and power grabs were always so amusing.

Kefka was a lot of fun. But Sephiroth burned down a town and I LOVE fire. Plus he went all the way through a skyscraper and killed like a hundred people with just a sword (a six foot sword granted). That screams badass.

Kefka's laugh is one of the best sound effects in video game history. It is in the final battle soundtrack and I enjoy it every time I hear it.

Shadow is my favorite character though. The loner and his dog. Awesome Quote "don't mess with Shadow, he'd slit his mama's throat for a nickel". Just brutally funny.

Shadow--Front-Side.jpg

Shuriken-Front-Side.jpg

Here is Shadow the assassin. The shuriken wording may need to say "upkeep: refresh only if you spend $1"

I have to say no on Shadow. Being able to discard an elephant gun for a +16 one handed bonus is not okay. Unless you've proceeded entirely into character driven cards (as opposed to a residue of game balance).

You think it would be worth discarding an expensive one shot weapon to get one big ass check? I wasn't sure what to do with throw since it basically made anything thrown alot better for the cost of discarding it. Any ideas?

One handed items can be thrown without hand use for half damage, two handed items can be thrown with one hand for normal damage?

Two thoughts with Shadow: Make him use both hands with Throw for simplicity and no potential +32 attack;

or have Throw give an additional combat bonus of 3 or so and make it one handed. This would make cheaper weapons more ideal to throw much like in the game.

Sabin-Figaro-Front-Side.jpg

This is Sabin the rugged monk. Fist of God would replace the normal Encounter BTW.

If you have enough equipment to give him a potential +32 attack, I really think you probably should've won the game some time ago ;')

That is true but I am trying to make him more reasonable. I lean towards the second idea of every weapon gets an extra +3 when thrown (making a reason to keep crap like knife). The number of hands stays the same and shuriken becomes a +5 weapon for Shadow. I will go back and change him later.

Celes-Chere-Front-Side.jpg

Here is Celes the former Imperial General infused with magic(ite).

Uh... Her ability is almost completely nonfunctional ;'D especially when you consider that most spells have a sanity cost of one. Did you hate Runic *that* much? ;'D

Yes I thought Runic was the most pointless ability possibly in all of the Final Fantasy games. I probably should give her a +1 bonus to focus for it being so terrible. I used her solely for her strong base magic and not much for that. Terra > Celes

Cyan-Garamonde-Front-Side.jpg

Here is Cyan the Knight whose family is poisoned by Kefka. He is called a Samurai if the new version but I am going old school here. Swordtech was slow but powerful hence monster attacks first.
