Dice choices for next organized play season

By amoshias, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

I know the common theory is that FFG doesn't really pay any attention to these posts, but on the off chance...

I notice that the Fall Organized Play kits have green acrylic dice in them. I hope that the Spring 2015 kits go back to the blue dice. Now, I get that part of the point of the acrylics is just a neat upgrade - but it's also easy to see something like the acrylic 3 fatigue chips as a nice compliment to an existing set. If that's at least part of the thinking here, green dice are probably the least interesting ones to include - most serious descent groups have a glut of these, because they're included in... 3? 4? of the existing expansions. If I were to make a list of which dice I would most like extras of, it would probably be...

Blue

Grey

Brown

Yellow

Red

Black

Green

Actually, it's more likely... "blue, blue, blue, grey, grey, brown, red, yellow..." IE, I constantly see people groping around for blue dice, very frequent for grey, and rarely for any of the others. Brown is probably the next up, not because people need it so often, but because there are two yellow/red dice in the sets for every brown. Obviously, in act 2, yellow and red dice are a scarcer commodity :-)

It would be nice if FFG made it so the Spring kits always included blue dice, and the fall kits rotated through the other colors.

For less than the cost of some of the lieutenants, you can get extras of all the "base" dice. I've got one of these with my set, and since I've also got labyrinth and nerekhall, I end up with a total of 2* (blue, black, brown) and 4*(yellow, red, gray, green.) It works out nicely.

I'm guilty owning 3 sets of dice.

I have a set of dice for each player (core + 4 extra) but the sets only come with 1 blue and no green dice. Having the OP kits start with blue then green dice was really good (I have the extra dice from these kits as well, the green dice are at the store waiting for me).

I'd prefer black dice next, then Brown, red, yellow, white.

I guess I should have said, but my experience is based on two groups - my set, which includes 1 extra set of dice, and is usually played with 2 or 3 players. And my gaming group host's set, which has 2 extra sets and is usually played with 5 players.

So yes, I'm aware that there are extra dice. And even with a set of dice for each player, I wish there were extra blue and sometimes grey dice. I'm actually kind of glad the Mulletcheese's experience is different from mine, and that he's happy to get green dice... wait a second, Mullet. White dice? Are you playing 1st edition?

I always think of the light grey dice as white, probably a hangover from playing 1st ed.

In our group, each player owns his own set of dice...

The only dice "missing" are the green ones, since the only ones we have are teh ones with the expansions and have to be shared with all players.

So when I attack with a weapon that adds a green die, using two skill that add a green die each, with a relic that adds a green die, I quickly turn up short and end up hogging all the green dice!
