Next Faction: Sith?

By Rithrin, in X-Wing

Since they're obviously going with the faction-adding route, this seems like the next logical step, and would follow with the LCG faction spread.

LCG has Imperial Navy, Rebel Alliance, Scum & Villainy (all present so far), then Sith, Jedi, and Smugglers & Spies.

And I imagine the new movies will add some craft usable by Sith and Jedi, so they'll have a lot of material to use by the time they feel a fourth faction is necessary. Then maybe they'll make people happy by Darth Vader's and Maarek Stele's conversion kit like they did with the Fett.

doesn't Corran horn go on to become a Jedi??

How about.... no? We don't need more factions, 3 is enough.

Or 4.

Smugglers, Rebels and Imperials cover all the options I want for the game. I'm not opposed to them making new factions, but I don't think I'd buy them.

Once my son gets a little older, I want to play out a bunch of the old TIE Fighter and X-Wing missions.

NO.

I've had it up to here with Jedi/Sith crap. We don't need that garbage polluting X-Wing.

Sith can be Imperial, Jedi can be Alliance, We don't need a 4th faction... and nobody likes or cares about the Vong.

Peace Brigade? Stop trying to make Force users not happen, it's not going to happen

Apparently I'm nobody. NJO books were great. We DON'T need Jedi and Sith factions though.

Do you mean it's not going to not happen?

What makes you think that? They added the third GCW faction which is criminal scum, giving them a treasure trove of new (and still EU iconic) GCW stuff to make. They've basically made a faction of what they had already but had previously shoehorned into Rebel and Imperial. That doesn't mean they're now going to spam factions and turn this into a broken mess like Attack Wing.

They have all the factions they need for now: their "running out of ships" problem is fixed. This third faction is part FFG wants to do the whole GCW Star Wars and part necessity. They've got a lot of stuff to do now so they've no need to throw more factions in. What faction would it even be without massively breaking era?

I would expect Smugglers would be next.

My guess is that "Scum and Villainy" covers smugglers as well.

Sometimes I seriously consider making an offer to buy FFG, just so I can come out with all of the stuff that each and every person insists will never be released for some FFG game ... just because it would make me laugh ... :P

Who are you ? Kirby from GW ?

The Sith did not have their own ships in the era this game covers. Nor did the Jedi. Or you could say we already have their ships in the form of the Rebels and Empire.

X-Wing and the SW LCG are different games with different needs. The LCG needs different flavors of decks, but evenly divided between the light and dark side. We don't have that need. Our need was simply for a faction that could include all the stuff that doesn't fit the Rebels and Empire and we have that now.

We won't see a new faction between now and Episode VII.Beyond that no one can say because we don't know what that era looks like in even the vaguest sense.

Well, the designers for X-Wing have changed. Wave 3-4 I believe were new designers. The game was designed with Rebel vs Empire in mind. The new designers have decided to change that and go with a new faction. That fact that they've added a faction is undeniable; it happened just a few days ago. Since they have, it made me curious as to what other factions they may add and took the LCG from the same company as inspiration and made a guess. I made no mentioned of any time frame for it, nor did I endorse them doing so. Consider this a 'predicition thread'.

Sith would be a poor faction choice. There are always 2, no more, no less.

HA!

That's what the whole movie series was all about. They created this fictional religion and it became the element which bound the entire movie franchise together. What would Star Wars be without Luke Skywalker and his struggle against the dark side and Vaders struggle to feel compassion?

You're asking us to remove a MAJOR aspect to the story. If you don't like that aspect, maybe Wings of War is more your thing.

Sigh...here we go again...

Give them an inch and they take a mile.

Seriously...we just got a new faction. Do we really have to start this again so soon?

And I am with captain lackwit. I rather enjoy the near lack of force users in this game. Really makes it stand out from almost every other star wars game that I have played.

The Jedi / Sith theme wasn't emphisised as much in the OT, it was about the struggle between the rebels and the empire, and Luke's path to become a Jedi without noosing himself to the darkside was a part of that. The term Sith was never even used in a movie until the Phantom Menace.

You mean aside from Luke, Corran Horn, Vader, Carnor Jax, Kyle Katarn, Maarek Stele, Mara Jade... Leia... Any others?

But they receive no unique mechanical recognition of their Force ability. It is only one of many aspects relevant to their piloting and leadership capabilities.

Honestly it also means there are not a lot of Sith/Jedi left to form a new faction anyways. I think we have enough factions.

That's why I said near lack...the only ones I could think of were vader and Luke...leis as I recall never learned how ribose the force...Steele I never knew was attuned. I have no no knowledge of horn, jax or jade.

Regardless of all that I wouldn't call their abilities exactly force inspired (except for maybe horn and jack).

I don't want to see this game get overtaken by force users like spent other star wars games. It was the fact that Kyle became a Jedi that I decided not to play dark forces 2...one of the things I loved about dark forces and the first battlefront was that they focused on the unsung heroes of the war...the agents and grunts who fought, bled and won the wars.

Lack of Jedi and non focus on the force makes this game stand apart from so many of the other star wars games. While I wouldn't rage against the appearance of a single force user or force inspired ability...a while faction of them would be too much.
