FFG Article - Scum and Villainy

By SpikeSpiegel, in X-Wing

There is going to be a lot to MathWing in here.

Will those PS1 Z95 be worth 11 points ? I need to know this...

Probably still 12 but justified by having the illicit upgrade?

Also, the Corrector with an Autoblaster just means 2 damage every attack, minimum. Ten Numb is getting one of those things ASAP!

But 10 numb wants crits.

Right, he stacks with the Autoblaster, so you roll and see what comes up. If you got two eyes or blanks, just trigger the Corrector! But whatever you roll up front has a great chance of going through. Basically in my mind it's a replacement for Marksmanship that doesn't eat up your action. Plus, if you have a target lock for any reason, you can spend the lock first, and then still trigger the Corrector if your dice hate you.

Isn't auto corrector a S&V card only?

Nope, just a 3 point Systems card.

I hope not. When was the last time you put upgrades on a 12 point ship?

I want 4 IG-2000s! :o

The Most Wanted set is incredible value. I'm going to pick up an Hwk and Firespray then once I get Most Wanted I'll already have a sizable fleet for the Scum! (It's going to be hard to stop saying Rebel Scum because that's going to confuse people now.)

I don't think imperials see any difference at all really.

Would not surprise me at all to see a YT-1300 and YT-2400 conversion kit in a future boxed expansion to make them usable by the Scum & Villainy faction.

This also indicates a 'Smuggler and Spies' faction possibly as well. With YTs and other ships. Predictions?

There is no pleasing some people.

Oh, I'm pleased, just predicting based upon the identically named faction from SW LCG...

I occasionally put ion pulse missiles on Bandits.

And FFG hasn't previewed all the illicit upgrades yet, so it's hard to rule out something swarm-friendly in that slot.

Curved flip? Droid ships that share pilot abilities? A new version of Boba Fett that is much nastier?

I had my doubts, but I'm eager to try these things out.

FFG, you've hooked me again.

Could be. I am just invested in this wishful thinking about having a 9 ship zwarm. I can see the formation already.

The new Fett is everything I hopped for! IG-88 is amazing, and everything else looks really good! Now I find myself wanting to see bossk, 4-lom, zuckkus, and dengar. Epic game scenario, the hunt for Han Solo!

Am I seeing this right, IG-88D's ability lets you use a turn template for its Segnor's Loop? That is so cool!

Aye! :)

Looks like theres a BTL-S3 title card for the Y-wing to take a crew, that should make some rebel scum very happy.

The PS7 M3-A is like Howlrunner but for defense rerolls.

I think the Virago title adds a System Upgrade.

Lots of cool stuff here.

The Virago title adds both a system and illicit upgrade.

There's a lot of text on that card so i'm not convinced it's adding a crew. Or if it is it's doing much more besides.

Here's the Y-wing article on wookieepedia with the various models listed

I love the idea of playing IG-88 only. I hope that different versions have different points.

Shame that they forgot auxiliary weapon icons on the scum Firespray pilots.

Curious... you are right... yet the ship cardboard has the dotted aux arc

I think you are crossing your 'Flight Path' games - in X-Wing...or, at least, for the Firespray...the auxiliary arc is for primary attack, only. IE., secondary weapons can't fire in that arc - they are limited to the forward arc. (Which is the exact opposite of 'Attack Wing' because: reasons)

Not sure what icons you are referring to as 'missing', though?

My initial desire to buy into the new faction is probably going to depend a lot on how they handle allowing mixed dials for tournament play.

I have 1 Y-Wing and 3 Z-95s already, obviously with Rebel dials. If I pick up the Most Wanted pack, could I use the included Y-wing / 2 Z-95s as Y-wing #2 / Z-95s #4+5 in a tournament Rebel list (obviously having to use the Scum dials for the new models)? Or vice versa, could I use the Z-95s I already have as Z-95's #3+4+5 in a tournament Scum list (using Rebel dials for my existing ships)?

If the answer is no, it'll certainly damper my enthusiasm a bit.

The preview image they showed definitely shows the 'Most Wanted' kit coming with 2x "Scum and Villainy" Y-Wing dials. So, if nothing else, it will let you fly one of your Rebel Y-Wings as a "Scum and Villainy" Y-Wing.

It only shows the two Z-95s dials, though, so...hard to say on that one. Maybe there are more, and the picture doesn't show it? (Kinda unlikely) Or maybe the Y-Wing needed a "new" dial, because it's maneuvers changed vs the Rebel version...but the Z-95 doesn't?

In any case, the 'Most Wanted' pack definitely gives you (presuming you have one each of the ships released to date):

  • Two Y-Wings (one new mini, one you provide)
  • Two Z-95s (two new minis)
  • One HWK-290 (mini you provide)
  • One Slave-1 (mini you provide)

So the base minimum possible is 6 ships of the new faction...that's not bad for $40!

I'm wondering the same about my 2 firesprays, but my game store hasn't done any x-wing tournaments, so I doubt the other players would care if I used tbe imperial dial.

I can't see why not, don't they allow proxy dials anyway? These are official FFG dials so of course you can use them. They've just given you Scum themed ones for coolness sake.

The current tournament rules make exceptions for third party maneuver templates, tokens and range rulers; otherwise, official X-Wing products must be used. Proxy dials are not allowed from what I can tell.

As you stated, these are official FFG dials, so if Most Wanted hit the stores now, I'd say the rules probably allow the use of mixed dials (assuming the selection of maneuvers is the same). That said, when Most Wanted hits the stores it will also be the first time ships can fly for multiple possible factions. It is certainly within the realm of possibility that FFG updates the tournament rules to disallow the use of mixed dials.

I'm not saying that it will happen, I'm just saying that I hope they will allow mixed dials.

I think they give you 2 Y-wing dials because they've been kind and are giving us 2 lots of Y-wing generics too. The fact that you would have to use a non Most Wanted Y-wing for this sort of implies that you can also use non Most Wanted head hunters, and by proxy non-scum dials.

Honestly, that's sort of my read, too.

I mean, thinking about that...if you wanted MORE than - say - 2x S&V Z-95s...is FFG really going to push out a new standalone Z-95 retail SKU, at this point? I rather doubt it! So the only way to get more S&V Z-95s would be to buy more 'most wanted' packs? That doesn't really feel like something FFG would do, so I'm thinking you are probably right, that the Rebel Z-95 dial and Rebel Z-95 minis would be no problem dropping a S&V pilot card and miniature tile on and calling it good...

Anyone notice that a card that comes with the Y-Wings has the word "BOMB" in it?!?!?!?!

Everything looks great, but my current carrying case can't hold all of this.

I do feel disappointed though that the Viper doesn't shoot backwards. That was one of it's biggest design features.
