So now that we have Scum and Villany...

By HunterEste, in X-Wing

So now that we have Scum and Villany, a whole new slew of wonderful fighters could be on the horizon.

The Black Sun alone utilized all the following (yes, yes I know we are getting some of them in this firt wave):

Starfighters

This is just from one criminal syndicate. There are more along with a myriad of bounty hunter ships, smugglers, etc etc.

As for "pure" rebellion/Empire: We also still have not seen:

Assault Gunboat

Missile Boat

T-Wing
R41 Star Chaser

But let's face it, we were starting to run out of Empire/Rebellion only ships from the Empire era. Would you all have rather that FFG just stop making new ships?

So why, are people so violently upset about the introduction of more content? More varied content can only make the game better....I want logical, well thought out answers. No knee-jerk anger spouts.

I felt the same way about the pre-quel ships. THe movies werent the best, and I by far prefer the OT, but there were some cool ships in the later films.

C'mon. That's a cool ship!

From my area, we are mostly excited by news of new faction. As in most things, the upset are just louder. FFG can't please everyone all the time. The sales of wave 6 will reveal the full picture ...

The arguement against a third faction has gennerally been theme and balance. Adding the lesser known ships from lesser known groups doesn't fit a lot of people's iconic and nostalgic view of star wars, I can understand that but I think adding a bunch of lesser known EU ships to the rebels and empire has the same effect. Everyone wants X-wing to fit their view of star wars, but thats just not possible.

Some players are coming from warhammer, which I know little about, but they feel that all the added factions in that game ruined the balance, wich makes sense because there's like 8 factions there. X-wing has only added 1 faction, so the likelyhood of imbalance would be lower, and as I see it, trying to shoehorn greater numbers of new ships and pilot abilities into the rebels and empire would more likely create imbalance, as well as limit the developers because of the need to balance everything with howlrunner, biggs, echo, han, etc.

I see S&V being something to reduce the rock/paper/scissors aspect of the meta, or at least add a spock/lizard element to it (BTW: I never whatch that show, but the idea is still funny).

I'm super excited about S&V, I want it now, lol.

I'm hoping for Hound's Tooth and Punishing One to be released. Rogue Shadow would be pretty nifty too!

I did also really like Darth Maul's ship, but the problem is once they add 1 prequel ship, they open the flood gates for the rest.

What do you think the power creep would be between a Naboo Star Fighter VS an Empire Era star fighter? Wouldn't most of the prequal ships be quite a bit weaker, or has technology not progressed that much in the 20 years between the prequel and the original trilogy?

You should probably see a doctor about that.

I'm not the one who's compensating :)

Punishing One.

Hound's Tooth.

Wild Karrde.

Any more for any more?

Slave II.

Not really it's an awful looking ship.

Looks more like a tie fighter and a y-wing had a baby that grew up wishing it was a sports car.

Obviously, it will never happen, but I'd be tickled to have this ship in the game:

There are actually 15, and only 2 have been added in the last 10 years, while 2 have also been taken away. And the amount of armies never messed with the balance, just GW's inability to write balanced rules and general carelessness with playtesting.

I haven't seen anyone upset about the introduction about new content, violently so or not. I've seen several threads and posts from you accusing such and abuse from people who thought a third faction wouldn't come. Now that it's here, how about we all just move on and enjoy it?
