Recently I've noticed a sharp increase in rude and negative remarks here on the forum, and it's been very off putting. I know I've posted a few remarks here that I would like to take back. The X-Wing Community has been one of the most welcoming of groups in the past. I would hate to see that change. The only way that we can keep that from happing is making an effort. I will make an effort to keep my comments constructive. I'll get off my soap box now, but hope those of you who read this think about this and keep this in mind when you post.

12/10, would read again. Drop the attitudes people. A lot of people have been quite vocal about the 3rd faction reveal.
The negative attitude has been around longer than the Gencon reveal. I would agree that the content has spiked downward and the complaining has been on an upswing. It seemed after Wave 4 speculations and list crafting was done people got bored and trolly.
Hey, shut up with your positivity and insightful input and come complain about the TIE Advanced with us

It's really only a handful of very vocal and disruptive people who seem to congregate in the same threads and cause a riot. The best thing this community could do to combat them is to continually report their behavior and utilize the block functionality.
Most of the community is great, I'd say there's about 5-6 little sour ones trying to live out their lives on these forums in a negative fashion.
I remember this one guy who used to troll the boards several months back, but he disappeared for a while. Probably had something to do with getting his posts deleted by the mods. Now the recent announcements have all the loonies coming out, and sure enough he came back and decided to create a gloat thread asking for apologies. Sadly, people didn't know he's a troll (and one of the worse variety, if you ask me), and their honest responses only fueled the divisiveness going on in that thread. I won't name that specific poster, but let's all hope that people like him either grow up or get bored and leave the community for good.

So that means your leaving the forums for good? because your definitely just like him.
As a new poster, I was really excited to get involved in the community. The past few days have really left me with a bad taste. A venomous community can kill a game.

Agreed. It's only taken a few very bad posters to make this place unwelcoming to new players. Again, when you see them utilize the report button. After enough warning points they will get perma banned.

First of all, I don't know what I did for you to jump on the hate bandwagon, but it's not a very becoming quality. Secondly, this isn't a thread about pointing fingers, it's about recognizing that this forum has had some serious issues of late that could be mitigated if we all tried to come together as a community. The major lessons learned here is that if you spot a troll, or a thread designed to inflame people (or especially one specific person), just leave it alone and let it die. Trolls don't deserve the attention, and individual posters certainly deserve better than to have others pile onto them.
If you have some personal grievance with me, you're more than welcome to send me a personal message and we can hash it out. If not, I'll kindly ask you to check your grievances at the door when I post.

All I've ever seen you do is enter a thread pick a fight with someone or quote and go "reported", you accuse others of trolling and act like your not one yourself.

Don't engage him, just report him and move along. It's not worth it.
It pretty much all stems from people taking the game too seriously. We have white-knuckle competitive gamers mercilessly trashing anyone who disagrees with their take on the current meta. We have neckbeards convinced they know the rules better than anyone else and refusing to back down when they're proven wrong. We have whiners whining about pretty much anything.
It all goes back to people investing WAY too much of their ego into what is, at the end of the day, a game where you move little plastic ships around the table..
Honestly, without active moderation I have to pessimistically say that this sort of thing is inevitable. I hate it too.
And thus the thread proved itself.
Personally I don't get it. We have a great game and an interesting future for it. And yet this some see as terrible times.
This could be the battle between purists, EU and the I don't care if its cool crowd but either way I think we take ourselves far too seriously.
It's a game we play with toys and make pew pew sounds, as grown men and women.
P.S. I can't wait to see the more cobbled together kit that ends up in space as opposed to the front line kit.

The moderators do respond when you report people, it just takes some time. It's also GenCon weekend so I'm sure they have alot of staff out there and are running a skeleton crew for things like the forums righ tnow.

That said, WonderWaaaagh, if there is an opinion thread that's going to bother that much, you might be best just leaving it alone. No sense in striking a beehive, no good will come out of it. And you're welcome to add all the sarcasm you want to anything I post. I hope you get that Gamorrean faction one day, lol.
WW hasn't ever done anything offensive. Sure he has a bit of a temper and a huge sarcastic side, but I've never seen him say anything abusive or purposefully insulting.

Send hugs not assault missiles. If you look for the negative then that is what you will see.
imho people come in 3 factions:
1) My Glass if Half Empty
- this faction always sees the bad in situations and generally gripe about stuff
2) My Glass is Half Full
- this faction always finds a silver lining and support other positive minded people
3) My Glass is Broken!
- this faction rage against the world seeing everyone else as the enemy.
Our personal experiences in life shape who we are. Everyone has had bad experiences in gaming and played against people we didn't like. Thats life. For every negative gamer you come across you will find another 10 or 20 positive people out there. Just open your eyes. They're there. Lets keep it positive people.

If I ever get the urge to troll someone I just go find me a creationist
I have seen a large amount of bullying (not directed at me) on threads and I have no problem reporting it. In all the forums I have frequented I have never seen this before. It's a real shame that there are 5 or 6 bad apples that just like to pile on other posters or participate in extreme flame wars and name calling.
It's a real shame as this really tarnishes what is a generally great community.
